However, things got awkward later when the Zhangs' auntie wanted Shu Yu to marry her son. While they didn't fall out, they distanced themselves from each other. After Shu Yu returned to Dong'an Prefecture, they hadn't been in contact.

So, Fang Xiyue wondered why Shu Yu wanted to visit the Zhang family this time.

After leaving her son with Auntie Fang, Fang Xiyue, accompanied by Shu Yu, headed to the Zhang family.

Aunt Zhang opened the door and was stunned by the sight of the person outside. She exclaimed, "Shu Yu?"

"Long time no see, Auntie. I hope everything's been well," Shu Yu said with a smile as she handed over a gift box.

Aunt Zhang took the gift box in a daze, and it took her a while to regain her composure. She warmly welcomed Shu Yu inside and said, "It's really you! Come in quickly. Why are you so polite and bringing so many gifts?"

"It's a rare visit, Auntie. It wouldn't be right to come empty-handed," Shu Yu replied.

Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng entered the house, leaving Xia Yan outside.

Aunt Zhang said, "Come inside; don't stand outside."

Meng Yunzheng smiled and said, "It's alright. Let him wait."

"Alright," Aunt Zhang chuckled awkwardly. She had forgotten that Shu Yu was now a county lady, and having her servant wait outside wasn't unusual.

For some reason, Aunt Zhang felt uneasy and awkward in front of Meng Yunzheng, despite his polite demeanor. His gaze made her inexplicably self-conscious.

Once inside the house, Aunt Zhang quickly invited her daughter-in-law to prepare tea for the guests.

As Aunt Zhang observed Shu Yu and then her daughter-in-law, she couldn't help but sigh. Comparing the two, there was a world of difference. She silently regretted that if Shu Yu had indeed married Pin'an, their family could have prospered, and they would have left this wretched place.

"What about Ping'an?" Shu Yu asked.

Zhang Auntie replied, "She got married in the second year after you left the Southwest. She's in the neighboring village. I'll have someone fetch her here. You can catch up."

Shu Yu immediately stopped her, saying, "No need. We just came to visit briefly, and we won't stay long. We plan to visit the Xu family later."

Upon hearing that Shu Yu hadn't visited the Xu family first and had come to their place instead, Aunt Zhang couldn't help but feel delighted. Her smile became even brighter.

However, Shu Yu didn't stay for long. After chatting briefly with Aunt Zhang and discussing recent events, she took her leave.
