Da Bao also squeezed his head out. The carriage window was small, and his face was chubby. When he squeezed in, he almost deformed the faces of Shu Rui and Er Niu.
Both of them looked pained, but Da Bao, oblivious to it all, excitedly said, ''Let's go to Tianning County to see where Big Brother Meng used to live. Ying Dong told us that Big Brother Meng lived there before he turned ten. It's a rare trip, and it would be a shame not to see it, right?''
He wanted to turn his head, but Shu Rui and Er Niu, in the brief moment he turned, managed to pull their heads back and started panting heavily.
Shu Yu watched with amusement. ''Alright, let's go to Tianning County. It's a good opportunity for Ying Dong and Ying Xi to go back and pay respects to their parents.''
Ying Xi had gone to offer her respects previously, but Ying Dong hadn't had the chance yet. Now, hearing Shu Yu's suggestion, the siblings became excited. ''Thank you, Miss.''
''We'll stay a few extra days in Tianning County, and you'll have some free time to explore and meet your old friends.''
In truth, Shu Yu's visit to Tianning County was primarily to see Meng Pei. Last time, he had left with Grandma Lu, and their purpose was to retrieve the Xuan Yuan Sword from the Tianning County Quansheng Escort Agency. Meng Pei said they needed to dig out the sword and deliver it directly to prevent others from coveting it.
Several months had passed since then, but Meng Pei hadn't returned, and Shu Yu didn't know how things had progressed. However, she didn't need to share this with the three youngsters, who were now excitedly fulfilling their wish, shouting in joy.
They didn't travel quickly, as Shu Yu had always been in a rush before. She found it rare to stop and appreciate the scenery along the way. With the three youngsters still in their traveling phase, she leisurely moved forward, occasionally staying in a local area for a day or two.
The three youngsters were content, but Shu Yu became increasingly troubled as she saw the carriage piling up with more and more things.
Fortunately, as the weather warmed up, the group finally arrived in Huajiang Prefecture.
Huajiang Prefecture was as lively as ever, and Shu Rui and the others had heard that it had the largest wharf along this route. They couldn't wait to go and see it.
Seeing their high energy, Shu Yu allowed them to go. She instructed, ''We'll stay in the city for the night today and head to Tianning County tomorrow. After visiting the wharf, come back early and don't tire yourselves out too much. Be careful not to oversleep tomorrow.''
''We understand, Second Sister.''
After the three of them hauled their luggage and belongings into the inn's rooms, they hurriedly ran out.
Shu Yu shook her head, realizing there was still some time left. She asked Ying Dong and Ying Xi if they wanted to go out on their own.
Ying Xi declined, but Ying Dong thought of friends he had in the city. He had learned from Ying Xi that their mother and stepfather had disappeared after their deaths, and Ying Xi had found out that their bodies had been claimed by someone in the city. Ying Dong and Tan Ping, the jailer, were friends, and since he was here, Ying Dong wanted to meet him and express his gratitude for the care he had provided in the past.
Shu Yu told him to go ahead, and she and Ying Xi rested in the inn.
That night, when the three youngsters returned, they were very excited. They hadn't been on a boat before, and when they saw the multi-layered ships at the port, they found it incredibly spectacular.
Except for Da Bao, the other two immediately wrote an article on the spot, vowing to show it to Master Wen when they returned.
Shu Yu chuckled and urged them to rest early.
The next day, the group woke up early and prepared to head to Tianning County. However, as they arrived at the city gate, Shu Yu suddenly called for the carriage to stop. ''Wait.''
