Chapter 1973: Meeting

Shu Yu blinked and looked at Tao Shi's sincere expression. She remained silent for a moment.

After a while, she tapped her head lightly and said, "...Alright, I'll accompany you."

Tao Shi immediately became happy and said, "Great, I'll go find the matchmaker and make arrangements."

Shu Yu knew that her role was mainly to boost Tao Shi's confidence. Since this matter concerned Meng Han's marriage, which she cared about deeply, she was willing to make this trip.

Tao Shi was very proactive and quickly set a time and place for the meeting.

As this meeting was not a formal engagement ceremony, Meng Yunzheng did not attend. Only Tao Shi, as well as Liao Shi, Gan Rui's elder sister-in-law, were meeting to get acquainted. Therefore, they chose Yue Lai Restaurant as the location.

Early in the morning, Tao Shi dressed up elaborately and nervously knocked on Shu Yu's door.

Soon after, Shu Yu, Tao Shi, and Meng Han went to Yue Lai Restaurant.

Their timing was coincidental; just as they arrived at the restaurant's entrance, Liao Shi's carriage pulled up.

Gan Rui was sitting on the carriage's shaft. As soon as he saw them, he turned to Liao Shi and said, "Sister-in-law, that's Ah Han."

Liao Shi raised her head and, with a quick glance, spotted Shu Yu first. Then she looked at Tao Shi and Meng Han. Based on their appearances, she quickly matched the faces to the names.

Gan Rui introduced both sides, and although Tao Shi was initially reserved, seeing how naturally Shu Yu greeted Liao Shi gave her a confidence boost. She straightened her back, suppressing her nervousness, and stepped forward to pay her respects.

Liao Shi was holding a five-year-old girl in her hand, her daughter.

The little girl curiously looked at Shu Yu and the others, then shyly retreated behind her mother.

Liao Shi chuckled and said, "Nini is a bit shy. Let's go inside and talk."

They quickly entered the restaurant. Liao Shi had already booked a private room on the second floor. A server led them directly to the room.

Liao Shi stood to the side, and she and Gan Rui were the last to enter the private room.

As the door to the private room closed, none of them noticed a woman standing near the entrance to an adjacent private room. She had intended to enter their room but stopped in her tracks when she saw them. Squinting her eyes, she examined the closed door of their room.

Inside the room, someone called her, and she responded but did not enter. Instead, she turned and asked the servant accompanying her, "Are those the big sister-in-law and Xiao Rui? What are they doing here? Who are those women with them?"

The servant shook her head, not entirely sure.

After a moment of contemplation, the woman said, "Go and find out."

"Alright."

While they were in the private room, someone kept calling her. She took one last deep look at the room where Shu Yu and the others were and then turned to enter her own room.

On Shu Yu's side, the atmosphere was quite pleasant. Liao Shi was a very generous and understanding person, just as Jiang Fengshou had described. She was capable of handling various topics.

Tao Shi, who initially didn't know what to say, found that Liao Shi's topics were all easy for her to respond to.

With the conversation flowing smoothly between them, both sides surprisingly got along quite well.

Shu Yu acted as a sort of anchor, occasionally inserting a few words and asking questions she was curious about, then quietly listening.

Meng Han was initially nervous but later started playing with Nini, the little girl who had warmed up to her. The two of them even began whispering secrets to each other.

Gan Rui occasionally answered Tao Shi's questions, but most of the time, he indulged in watching Meng Han and Nini.
