Narcissist! There are two Lukes from Berlin (both "Luke B." actually) in our inbox. Why are you not hanging out with your doppelganger?

2023-10-12 22:32:46 +0000 UTCHow many Luke's from Berlin are there? Or did Ken mix up the names of addenda listeners who recently sent in feedback? I visited the Fulda Gap this year (some of my partner's extended family live on the Thüringen-Bayern border) but I've not been to London to see the old graveyard.

2023-09-26 17:00:42 +0000 UTCYou fellows have conflated two different AL Capp mythical creatures, the Schmoo and the Kigmy. Comics historian and publisher explains the difference on his website: "Following the overwhelming success of his Shmoo in 1948, cartoonist Al Capp was pressed by fans and merchandise licensees alike to come up with a new creature. In 1949 he invented the Kigmy, a strange, dark, big-nosed creature that loved to be kicked. Naturally the Kigmy ("Kick-Me") was welcomed by humans, who loved nothing more than taking their daily frustrations out on a creature who loved being kicked. Capp later admitted that his inspiration for the Kigmy were the two groups in American society who he felt got "kicked around" the most: blacks and Jews. While the Kigmy did not enjoy the amazing commercial success of the Shmoo, there were nonetheless many kickable inflatables and other Kigmy merchandise produced in 1949." https://www.deniskitchen.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Store_Code=sk&Screen=PROD&Product_Code=BP_KSP.242
