2023-10-30 19:22:52 +0000 UTCTopic suggestion... only if it interests you. Everybody knows about "windmills" powering waterpumps on U.S. farms. But a lot of folks don't know that throughout the Midwest, thousands of homes were powered with wind power for lights, appliances, etc., until FDR's rural electrification efforts in the 1930s ... in which (often) big power-companies took over with coal-fired power plants. And thousands of folks lost a big chunk of their independence. There's a book about this but I can't remember the title. Cheers. Tim.
