I took Amtrak from Chicago to NYC and it took 23.5 hours to get there, only slightly less to get back. It would have been better if I was in a sleeping car, but my then-BF thought I should get the whole experience. I sure did.

2021-03-02 04:45:09 +0000 UTCAmtrak def does not get priority and it gets sidelined for a while all the time. We pulled out of Chicago heading East and had to immediately pull over into a siding for 2 hours to wait for the next big enough gap to get to the next siding. We left at 7pm and got into Toledo at almost 4am. I could have driven there and back on the turnpike in that time!
