Omnibus Addenda, Volume 1

Important news!  To thank our supporters for their generosity, the Omnibus will now be appending monthly "Addenda" entries to our archive, available to Patreon donors of all five membership tiers, "Lobster Person" and up.

These bonus episodes will highlight errata and supplemental information on past entries, as suggested by listeners from all time periods.  This can't be a complete time capsule  of human knowledge, culture, and achievement without your feedback!

As with all our other newly announced membership benefits, the Addenda episodes will be provided automatically and retroactively to all eligible members, and are valid until you change your membership status or the end of civilization arrives, whichever comes first.

So I just got to listening to last month's addenda entry; and the first addenda strikes me as a bit different than the story is told in one of my other favorite podcasts. The Mischke Roadshow is wonderful, and in the Minnesota Boys episode, Tom Mischke has a conversation with Bob Dylan's childhood friends who stuck with him throughout the period discussed in the addenda. Here is a link to the show: https://podcasts.apple.com/jm/podcast/the-mischke-roadshow-episode-114-minnesota-boys/id877077889?i=1000448272248 TD Mischke is a Minnesota treasure, and one of the weirdest broadcasters I've ever heard. He is an incredible story teller to boot.

Is there an RSS feed with both the adenda and regular episodes? John’s other podcast _Roadwork_ has that and it’s very convenient. 👍

Thanks for the extra episodes! As a Lobster Person, I promise to submit at least 5 pedantic complaints per month. You're welcome. --rambo

I can't find where Ken mentions "Please tell us what you really think", but I'm sure it's out there somewhere. I actually wanted to just drop the boys a one-time C-note so I could feel righteous during their transition to independence. But that wasn't an option so I did Lobster with a mental note to cancel once they are up and running properly. But now, 5 bones a month for one special ep a month? Yeah, I'm in for life. Thanks, keep the content coming.

I'm digging it! I think these Addenda volumes will be a hit.

Listened to the first addenda and enjoyed it immensely.

That did help -- wow, they make that hard to find.

Thank you, that all worked. I was going mad looking for the Overview page. I thought it was related to my account and not for here.

Going by the comments in this thread, my understanding is you will see a customized RSS link in the upper right of https://www.patreon.com/omnibusproject (desktop version, not mobile version) after donating at any level. Mine is in a little "AUDIO RSS LINK" box. THAT link should work in Overcast, and that feed will include the bonus eps as long as you're pledged at the $5 level or higher.

So, I don't really use Patreon at all, and have been rather confused by all this. The URL doesn't work from the email. I don't know what the Overview page is or where the link on it exists. I use Overcast and have tried pasting in various URLs, but nothing seems to work. Can anyone help me through this? I mostly just use podcasts in my car, so I don't really have a use for desktop feeds, tbh.

😹

Also you've fixed my Road Work bonus content problem. :-D

THANK YOU Peter! It totally works. Happy!

Did you use the https URL on the overview page where it says AUDIO RSS LINK? This is the overview page: https://www.patreon.com/omnibusproject/overview The url in the e-mail didn't work in my Overcast podcatcher, I have no idea what the e-mail link format is useful for.

I'm not sure it was urine related content I had in mind for this patronage.. Really I thought Ross and Carrie filled that niche. GETTING CROWDED IN THAT NICHE NOW.

I did this while doing 7 other things at work, so I might have missed a step. Except where mentioned I was on a desktop. The first email from Patreon say "Use this link to listen..." but you have to do some stuff. Patreon asked me what level subscriber I am, and said "you won't be charged." I clicked Lobster which took me to another screen, but also sent a welcome email. Odd, since I subscribed back when, but cool because that email had my personalized link. When on the phone, cut-n-pasted that link into my app in the add via RSS and it works perfectly. Hope this helps.

I know how to do it, but the link isn't one that will work that way.

No link on my overview page that I can find on mobile. Is it desktop only or something?

I am not sure if this is still supported, I did some googling and had this article describing something that worked in 2017. https://medium.com/@joshmuccio/how-to-manually-add-a-rss-feed-to-your-podcast-app-on-desktop-ios-android-478d197a3770

I can't make it work. I use iTunes on a desktop. Am I stuck?
