A quick gameplay of alpha version of v1.0 from a remake of my first endless running game, GiantessRun: https://xptz.itch.io/giantessrun, totally redone in Godot 4.5.1 (the latest game was made in Godot 3.2 up to 3.5)
This is a new test demo for:
audio stability,
new fades and animations;
now a feet stomping the scenario behind (I also implemented a destructive scenario, but sadly it takes a lot of processing power and undesired effects as is, so I plan to do it in a later version)
game over screens with placeholder art (one for dying, one for being stomped, and one for surviving over 3 minutes)
basic health/damage system (now you have 3 hits)
and new CC0' SFW/music used from https://opengameart.org/.
The Story Mode idea was cancelled, to be reused in a sequel as standalone (as this requires waaaay more work). Goal: to have at least 3 levels, and a free DLC system for level packs before launching the game, and every patro can redeem their Itch.io code for free, like their did with the legacy version.
There are still a ton of work to do, but almost nothing is code-related:
More collectables (like hearts and the ruby/diamond ones) and hazards (based on level design, during game development)
the Level Select part (gonna port from the older codebase, right now it loads the first DLC, Callie)
the levels itself with at least 3 characters (Callie/beach, Eileen/ice and Firera/fire); more levels would be delivered via server updates,
testing the DLC system, in a way that someone could in the future upload the base game and every DLC like it was in a previous version
The artworks and animation updates; every one will be redone for their most recent designs.
Mostly, massive manual labor than coding (I assume over 50 artworks in +2K resolution, 10 blocks of loopable platforms per level). Gonna be an herculean job, hehehe.
I'll keep you guys updated every week with Alpha 2, 3, 4... and of course you'll get faster updates in my Discord server: https://discord.gg/UHCD5E7Q
