Desire's Grove Project Update

Hey everyone, 

I wanted to make a quick update on this tweet I posted yesterday.

What went wrong?

Yesterday, I opened up the project for the first time since my computer change to do what I thought was going to be a quick final touch before the next update, but I realized that the project files were corrupted during the transfer. 

I booted up my external hard drive only to find out that the files were corrupted on there too. I hadn't noticed during the backup, but the cable connection from my drive is loose and the transfer couldn't be completed properly. 

So I took my old computer out of storage and plugged it, only to find out that the hard drive where everything was saved just couldn't boot up at all. (This fear was what drove me to get a new computer)

I looked up at my online backups and the most recent one I found was from over 9 months ago, so I am missing hundreds if not thousands hours of work. 

So... what now?

Moving Forward

Since the art assets and voice files were backed up in a separate folder, they haven't been affected, thankfully. So what are my options from there?

1. Give up Desire's Grove
This won't happen. I love my characters too much and I want to give them somewhere to shine. It wouldn't be fair to the people who have supported the project in any form or the people who helped bring it to life through voice work, art, music, etc. 

2. Re-do the entire game as it was
I considered doing this, but the more I think about it, the less appealing this option looked. This would require me to open the exported version of the game and work without any creative input for months to reach the same point as I was and I just don't think I could do that and stay sane. 

3. Experiment with spinoffs featuring the same characters
This is what I've been leaning towards. After discussing with the lovely people on Discord (thanks so much for the support, peeps) I decided that I would start working on some rough prototypes for new projects and see with you all which one would deserve to be pushed further.
