Swole Comrade Here!! 🙋🏼‍♀️💖 I coach a ladies who lift class, which is trying to get more women comfortable in the free weights area in the gym. It's frustrating how there are specific gender expectations in training in most gyms, like girls just do hip thrusts and Bulgarian split squats. I was asking my class if anyone would be interested in learning some Olympic Weightlifting techniques, because at my previous gym, most of the people you saw doing snatch were women. It's about what you're body can do rather than what it looks like. I still got the whole "but we don't want to get too bulky" thing. Like you're not going to look like me, unless you train like me for years, and eat lots. I really hate the turning food and eating into this like accounting system. I literally eat a whole (vegan) pizza the night before a competition. But the most grotesque thing in commercial gyms is if you're in one that PTs put up "before and after" posters. It makes everything about what you're body looks like, rather than enjoying the things it can do!
