BONUS FREE Model -- Magnetic Cane Clip

Hey everyone!

Little random personal/free model I put up today. I made this little magnetic attachment for my cane because I was tired of having to balance it when I needed my 2nd hand so now it can just attach and detach to my bag or belt super easy! Trying to balance it at cash registers drove me CRAZY.

Hopefully it helps some of my fellow disabled baddies out there! (And for those of you who didn't know I was disabled-- Hi, hello! I have multiple chronic illnesses and that's part of why I design <3)

It's up on Thangs, Cults3D, Makerworld, and MMF and will remain free long-term! Of course members have commercial licensing to sell them, if you want :)

Clip fits a standard 1" diameter cane handle and 1" magnets (be sure to use STRONG magnets that can hold the weight of your cane)
Feel free to scale up or down if needed. My cane is a pretty standard 21mm diameter folding cane.
10% infill
2-3 walls

Aww thank you so much! I'm so glad you like it and I hope your customers do too! That's amazing! I just got diagnosed with POTS this month (in addition the others I already knew about) so it's a big learning curve lol. I actually had a service dog for years for my other illnesses but he retired last year! I'm just too worn out on dog training to train a new prospect right now xD But maybe eventually lol. But you're so welcome! I'm so glad you enjoy them!! <3

Kirsten McKenzie

This is amazing! We work with several disabled customers and this will be a game changer! Thank you! I opted for a service dog vs a cane, but she also alerts to my sugars and my POTS! She makes me sit down before I black out. Thank you for all the prints! They bring so much joy and the practicle ones are amazing!

Haha yes exactly!! It's always nice to find follow chronic illness people <3 Dang, you and me have been on the same road this month then lol. I'm super thankful for my current medical team now, so many people just brush off more complex issues or chock it up to my other chronic illnesses (celiac disease, endometriosis, IBS, hip impingement) but when I started fainting this year that was definitely new and concerning. POTS explains SO much of what I've been dealing with for a long time. Thanks so much for the offer to chat! Same goes to you as well! <3

Kirsten McKenzie

Thank you so much for your kind words! I hope it can be helpful to them <3

Kirsten McKenzie

Thanks so much!

OMG so awesome to find another like us. Not good but yay. This is going to be so helpful. I was just diagnosed pots this month. My other issues usually go with pots and is usually misdiagnosed. We have a doctor who listens now and is fighting for our diagnosis. Feel free on your free time to reach out if you would like sometime!

Rob Hilton

I hope they help them!! And I actually super glued my magnets in place with locktite gel super glue which has a fabulous hold! The tape over mine was actually to dampen the magnet strength a tad since they're STRONG lol

Kirsten McKenzie

I'd love to print some of these up for school kids, and donate them to our program. However, the tape might not work. I'm wondering if you would consider a mod down the road? A little snap around cover of sorts that would hold the magnet in place, and still keep its strength? I could draw something I have pictured, but I am not good with the 3D design tools.

I thankfully do not need a cane, but do know people who do! I came to say this is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for making this aawesome piece and sharing for others. ❤️ True Hero.

Natalie

This is a great idea.

Kuu Wolf

Yesssss I'm so glad you like it! I'm definitely open to more suggestions! I only think of niche ideas for my personal needs xD

Kirsten McKenzie

Aww thank you so much!! You're so sweet ❤️ I hope this is helpful to you and wish you a smooth recovery and hopefully less pain after surgeries ❤️

Kirsten McKenzie

OMG, POTS is my most recent diagnosis! (as in, THIS month, recent 😅) I hope this is helpful to you friend!

Kirsten McKenzie

Oh wow! That sounds almost as confusing as GETTING a disability after growing up healthy. I'm so happy for you being more functional and with hopefully less pain! ❤️ You're so welcome! I hope it's helpful to them!

Kirsten McKenzie

I absolutely LOVE this. Im 36 and spent 20 years of my life with a severe leg discrepancy (3in) and a hip that kept corroding away. I used a cane for quite awhile before I had a hip reconstruction at 30. It's truly a mind f*ck to have a disability and then NOT. I've spent the last 6 years relearning so many things! I love you so much for sharing this! I can't wait to make some for some fellow cane users!

Amanda Judd

As a diagnosed POTS, Possibly Connective Tissue, and MCAS. This is amazing!

Rob Hilton

OK I love you more now. I have made over 1500 of your pet Keychains you are so loved by my customers they can't wait for next release. Now I have had spinal fusion and my left knee replaced so far this year (right next scheduled time) finally started being able to use a cane this will be great! We at LoveBugdesigns.us love you,

Oh yes, I love the idea of more adaptive equipment designs! As an Occupational Therapist, I really appreciate practical, useful designs like this!

Heather Miller

Ohhhh yes that'd be awesome! I hope it's helpful to you <3

Kirsten McKenzie

That's awesome! Mine has a 4-foot bottom but it has some shock absorbing in it which means it can stand but sometimes takes a second to balance right lol. Plus I knock it over sometimes once it's balanced too xD

Kirsten McKenzie

This is awesome! I think I can use this on my wheelchair to attach my reacher tool to! Thank you. I hope you can come up with more adaptive pieces!

Kristina Kent

I also sometime use a cane. I find that having a large/wide foot on the bottom is really helpfull. My canes both stand up on their own, and if they fall down, I can get them upright using my foot on that base instead of bending down. This is the one I'm currently using. https://www.amazon.com/Vive-Self-Standing-Cane-Tip/dp/B086WPQNJQ/
