New Year and New Tier Update
Added 2021-01-05 14:00:00 +0000 UTCHey, everyone! In July when I started this Patreon I had set up some projected goals and said I would update them in January 2021, so that's what we're doing today. I'm going to go through my list of projects and let you know what you can expect to see out of them in 2021.
But first, a Patreon tier update: I used to be running a second Patreon for my gaming content, but decided to close it this month so that I could more fully focus on music. I'll still be doing weekly live streams (starting again in February) because I like hanging out with everyone there, I'm just removing the paid aspect. The gaming Patreon had a $15 tier that several people went for, so I've decided to add one here. I've seen bands charge ludicrous amounts a month (upwards of $50) for their content which is why I capped mine at $10 because I thought that was reasonable, but if people want to give me more at some point, I'm not going to stop them, and I'm going to work out some added rewards. So, here is the $15 tier and the new rewards:
Katriarch: Rank II ($15/month)
-All previous tier rewards (including $10 discount code any time I drop new merch)
-Your name will be moved to the top of all future special thanks sections. These are otherwise sorted chronologically with the newest patrons at the end.
-Free t-shirt or long sleeve shirt after your first month of being a Katriarch: Rank II patron. When you are charged for your second month of being a Katriarch: Rank II patron, you will receive a message on Patreon asking for order and shipping info. You will have the choice of a free t-shirt or long sleeve shirt from any of the designs for any project that I have listed at that time on Teespring. So, if you upgrade in January, when you are charged in February you will get a message about your free shirt. If none interest you right now, feel free to respond to the message at a later date and redeem it when you see one that you want.
-Free piece of any merch every 6 months. In addition to the first free shirt, for every 6 months you have been a Katriarch: Rank II patron, you will be eligible to receive a free piece of any merch that I have listed on Teespring for any of my projects. From hoodies to posters to t-shirts to whatever else, the choice is yours. You will receive a message from me on Patreon at the 6 month mark to get your order and shipping info.
If you upgrade this month, you will not be charged twice, you will only be charged $15 total (i.e. if you were at the $10 tier and upgrade to the $15 tier, you will be charged $15, not $25). I hope to see some of you at this tier eventually if not this month! Now for the project updates.
Klaymore
Covid has really ruined a lot of what I wanted to get done with Klaymore. We have a ton of material almost finished, but it doesn't really matter when we can't take the final steps to get it out to the public. We have multiple covers, a full album of music, and several singles 90% done, but I would want to shoot music videos for them (since traction on YouTube is incredibly linked to how visually appealing your content is) and with covid getting worse literally every day and all of us being in close proximity to vulnerable people, I absolutely don't feel comfortable getting all of us into the same room. Sorry guys, I'm not killing one of our parents to get 700 views on a Stratovarius cover even though it sounds sick as fuck. Our bass player also had covid in April and works with the public, so the threat of them getting it again and passing it to one of us is very real. This is an added reason why I've been working on and releasing more of the video game covers. They're things that I can arrange, record, and mix on my own. The only other person I need to be in contact with is Alex when he comes over to film, and he works from home so covid transmission is much less likely between us. I had set the goals for Klaymore when covid seemed to be on the decline and was then immediately proven wrong which is why I'm rethinking what kind of content and how frequently I can release it. Right now I'm saying there will be some kind of new content for that channel every 6-8 weeks minimum. There are also only two more songs that I have ready that will be released through a label, so hopefully after that all delays are on me and I'm not subject to other people essentially deciding when I can or can't put out the content I've been working on.
Factory Flora
My plan for Factory Flora is still pretty much the same. We've been releasing monthly singles while working on bigger ideas in the background. We met our goal of releasing our first album this year, although physical copies were delayed by about a month, they should be in my hands to send out this month. The plan for a second album had also been that Derrick and I would sit in a room and work together on it but again, covid has made that a less and less realistic goal for us as time goes on, so we're going to continue figuring out the best ways to work long distance. I had also said we would release another remix album in 2021 and it looks like that is still on track. I have about 5/10 songs in the works for it right now.
Katy Scary
This one stayed 112% on track. My plan was to just get out a few demos when I had time between everything else and I dropped one demo and one completed song in 2020, and I'll be dropping another demo in February. My plan for 2021 is to release a 4-song demo onto YouTube and Spotify and then finish writing the first album to be released in early 2022.
TBA Trad Metal Project
This one has had a few delays for very positive reasons. It started out as just two people but in the second half of 2020 we added more members and changed some roles, so this made things take longer since we all needed to get onto the same page. One of my bandmates also dropped an album that really took off for them, so we were expecting them to have more free time for this project after their album was released but their free time pretty much stayed the same. We just finished the final demo for our first 10-song album, so now we can start the process of final recordings, plan out releasing a few singles in advance, get album art and a logo commissioned, and hopefully get a few merch designs as well. To celebrate the completion of the demoing process, I'll be releasing one of the demos just for patrons next week, and I am very excited for you all to hear it. We are still planning on releasing the album in 2021.
Thank you all for the support you gave me in 2020 here on Patreon; I am greatly looking forward to what I can accomplish with your help in 2021!
