A Demo (and request for feedback)

Normally i just work on comics and fanart. But a while back, i thought i'd try something a little more "ambitious" (because i like setting goals i can never attain, or something).

Anyway, as i don't want to bore you all with too long a pre-amble, i'll just cut straight to the chase.

You ever play those crappy DID-themed "games" that are little more than a few point and click controls and nothing else?

...

Want to try playing another one? It's something of an "interactive comic". Go to the link, wait until it loads and click on "intro".

*****If you don't care about any of the background of this project, just click the link and enjoy*****

This is something i plan on sharing with all my dA watchers/comic readers (soon-ish?), but i thought i'd share it with you, my upper-tier patrons, first, so i can get your feedback on it. So if you want to see what i've been working on, go to that link and give it a try and let me know what you think.

A few caveats: i know some of the sprites are off (outdate Marisu look ones, for instance), the "refresh" button does nothing (don't worry about it), and the comic is misleadingly named "intro". But if you have any other feedback/thoughts, i'd love to hear it.

Now, a question you may have is why would i make such a crappy little web "game"?

Ultimately it's not my goal to make point-and-click "interactive comics" (there's enough of those already, i think). But i thought it would be a quick and easy project (it wasn't), and a good starting point for a more ambitious project (it is).

Also, I deployed this 'game' in html5 so that i could easily share it. But that's not something i plan to make a habit of. It's just not worth it to make anything but the simplest of games in html/js. And this is pushing it, imo.

But this does serve as a good example of a 'simple' dialog-engine. And it's good to get input early on from people to see if it's a waste of time or not and to gauge interest levels. So if you do have comments on this, please feel free to leave them here. Or note me on dA or whatever if the feedback is more than a few sentences.

Otherwise, just enjoy what is a short little "interactive comic" about everyone's favourite fiction hopper and her best frienemy as they talk about cosplaying. :)

Comments

The game was cute and the puns was funny but elena had the right idea :)

haha, this was very cute! It's great what a little animation and some interactivity can do. The cosplay pics were great (and the puns correspondingly awful), Marisu as a maid and V as StarFire being stand out favourites. Overall it's fun for what it is, being able to choose how to tie marisu is a treat, though I think I found a bug on the cross legged tie where changing the gag sometimes adds the blindfold too - nothing too serious. Very fun little game overall and I can't wait to see where you take the project from here!
