Weekly Update 7/14/25

Last week:
Squeaking in just under the wire, I was able to make the rough release of version 0.0.4 of Isle of Eros happen yesterday for True BElievers. This was a little bit of a chunkier version release, with two new locations, associated interactive points, a bit of a puzzle, and a new character!

Progress at this stage may feel a little slower from the outside, because I'm putting so much energy and time into alternative text and sequences that are currently locked due to needing access to elements not yet added. Of course, as I add new areas, that means that older areas will begin to explode with new options and content that I've already been adding in. The game will begin to... dare I say it? Expand quickly.

For now, though, I got through one more milestone and made a rough release happen. That's the big takeaway. It was only really a single annoying bug that caused it to take an extra couple days past what I was personally hoping. (I may have inadvertently introduced said bug by changing my approach to a section halfway through coding. Oops.)

Anyway, there's one more big aspect of this news: it means we're that much closer to the big demo release!

This week:
This week is a little on the busy side for me. I'm expecting around 10 hours of dev time altogether due to some IRL deadlines and events. That's around 2/3 what I get in a typical wide-open week, and it could always get trimmed down as other random things surprise me.

That aside, it's an exciting week for the game, as work will be laser focused on adding a new location and two expansion sequences that will be accessible in the demo! One will be pretty straightforward, while the other will take some perseverance to get to (not intended to be too tricky to figure out, though).

If those happen to get finished, I'll move on to one final location which will include a new possible ending, bringing the demo to 4 possible endings (3 of which will involve BE in some form).

I'm hopeful that I can have the bulk of the main work finished by the end of next week, with maybe a week or two of editing and debugging to go after that.

The supporter release of the clean demo version COULD be released within the next 3-4 weeks (assuming everything goes well for me and the game)!
