For the second, more animated section, a small... I wouldn't even call it keyboard solo... just a scales pattern, unimpressive... and the guitar solo of 10 seconds... completely "standard" rock guitar sounding to my tastes. Light years away from the majestic guitar solo of "All in a Mouse's Night", full of expression and sensitivity and far more longer! Sorry, I just cannot compare "Mouse's Night" to "Inside and Out". "Mouse's" is so superior in all aspects that I found the comparison unfair hehehehe! Well... it's a matter of opinions...

2025-04-16 11:27:57 +0000 UTCAnd now the subjectve part.... the first time I heard this track many years ago I was assured it was Hakett's swan song. What a dissapointment it was! Such an underwhelming track sadly in my opinion. The first, acoustic section I found it nice but far blander and not as beautiful as other previous efforts in the same vein such as Ripples, Entangled and let alone Blood on the Rooftops which is 100% more beautiful.

2025-04-16 11:23:40 +0000 UTCWhat it is certainly documented MANY times is that Steve didn't like the instrumental "Wot Gorilla" (which you have not listened to yet) because his own instrumental track "Please Don't Touch" was rejected in favor of "Wot Gorilla".

2025-04-16 11:20:51 +0000 UTCAnd this may be debatable, but to my whole knowledge of Genesis, never heard Hackett talk against "Mouse's", which sounded strange to me since "Mouse's" has one of his best solos in all his Genesis career, and Steve wasn't permitted to have guitar solos in every song!
