So uhhh... it seems that I should start posting here if I want to make this work. Oh well, welcome to my patreon I guess? I'm still really getting used to it, but let me just drop a gif of the current avatar I'm working on.
I'm still gonna get used to this so that might take a little while. I hope I actually get at least some attention for my creations on this.
(Also the following avatar was only one of my works I did this week. Started working on it on uhhh.... the 13th of this month I guess? So that'd be 4 days on it.)

So basically, this model is what is shown above. I made it in Koikatu as a try for an OC I was thinking of (some crazy ideas I was having led to this).
She's named Gaia, full name Project: GAIA. The idea was to make a character that was forced to use their dimentional powers to manipulate the fabric of the universe, by having to use an advanced technology. Well... basically, that was her main idea.

Its only problem was... Well, textures to be honest. The way Koikatsu does texturing by dividing each map not in layers but in color channels, was just giving my a big stroke from fixing. Basically, after messing around with a bunch of horrendous named files, I finally gave up on fixing the textures and just made it work for Unity.
All I had to do was properly weight painting the breasts, remove A LOT of bones and... Well, think what I'd do with all those messed up af textures.

Well... Basically, what I discovered in Blender was that the textures were kinda working, but horrendous looking and not working properly at all (Even less than I had expected).
The first reaction was "uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh", but then I kind of had in idea, based on my friend's dark avatar.

And that was what I did. I created my own dark, kinda messed up avatar. Actually had a lot of fun playing around with Poiyomi's shader. That was when I got very hyped to work on avatars once again (after some depressive bs that happened 3 months before it), and make some new animations for it.

So... well, I don't know if I mentioned it here, but one of biggest funs I have in Unity is messing up with existing animations. This right here is VRChat's (Mixamo's) default backflip, but messed up with the curve on the jump, deleted some frames and made it come back at the end. The result was a bless.
So... I kept on making those and working on my avatar to make sure it would look the exact way I was thinking of.

I didn't really find any screenshot of the middle of changing the textures and colors, but... Let me TL;DR this.
Got a Noise image for the body as a Matcap for the body, added an Emissive texture for the eyes, saturated and added brightness to the scarf's texture and uhh... oh, added Rim Lighting.
Also the texture on that cube I got from here (I don't know the owner // hit me up if you know)
So uhh... I thought it was it, but well, spoiler alert: It wasn't. There was still a long frick'd up path of messed up animations to go.

Probably half of those animations were messed up by me? I don't know. I just know that I had a lot of fun messing up with those animations and will be releasing it for whoever is a patron.

Well, that's basically it I guess? There's a lot onto it to be honest, I have no idea how to even show everything without doing a video. Might also make some videos explaining a couple of things that are interesting to know that I learned from this process.
Make sure to get that messed up animation pack if you are a patron by the way.
I hope you liked my messy post. If people like what I do I will probably do more of these. Thank you for reading mate.
