Pacers Player Previews: Jackson, Theis, Turner

Talking into a microphone about the basketball played by the Indiana Pacers

By: Caitlin Cooper I @C2_Cooper

With training camp just around the corner, Tony East and I are gearing up for the upcoming season with player previews. For this episode, we turned our attention to the center position, mulling over the options at back-up five from every angle while also looking ahead at potential changes in context for Myles Turner and whether an encore to his career season should be expected. As always, the following served as the guide for our conversation:

The two of us will be back later this week to discuss the wings on the roster, in which I promise none of the words will be spoken in German. Thanks for enjoying (tolerating?) that bit while it lasted.

Hey, thanks! I actually recently recorded a podcast with the host at Pounding the Rock about the Pacers and the future of NBA defense. We dig into both of those topics. https://soundcloud.com/poundtherock/caitlin-cooper-on-the-pacers-and-the-future-of-nba-defense

Great pod. 53:23 “ i dont think a rim protector can be your strongest link on defense anymore. I dont think your defense is going to be good if that’s the best aspect of it….it’s easier to move one person away from the basket, its a lot harder to move away four …. Locating defenders that can play a play-audible scheme versus a system-based scheme is more so the future of where defense is going” I thought this part was really interesting. Please talk a little bit more about the audible scheme you mentioned and if the pacers have players that can execute it. Thank you.
