Venom: Let There Be Carnage | Full Watch Along

Alright, I'm starting with the good here! Because there is a lot of good. Once again, the heart of this film was that strange, chaotic, yet vulnerable bond between Eddie and Venom. I absolutely love their dynamic. It's magnetic, messy, and oddly tender lol. It's almost a bit frightening how naturally Tom Hardy embodies that unhinged energy. Like he is playing two sides of the same fracture mirror. Watching this movie, I felt less of those "superhero antics" vibes and more about the loneliness of living with yourself. And learning to accept your own baggage when you'd rather lock it away.

Then there is Woody Harrelson! He made this villain feel so chaotically unsettling! The way he could shift from an almost innocent grin to a dead-eye stare and back to that unnerving twisty smile was pure talent. Chilling and disturbing. But TALENT. His performance gave this film such a jagged edge feel that kept me hooked even when the chaos got a bit too wild.

Now for the 'meh'. This film was like the last when it comes to the plot lines. They definitely felt a bit shattered and rushed. Threads were introduced, some rushed, some half-baked, and while eventually they all collided together, it never felt completely cohesive for some reason. I think that there was just too much going on to allow the incredible characters have their room to breathe.

But even with its flaws, I still enjoyed it! Like the last, there is something oddly captivating about Eddie and Venom's co-dependency. That push and pull between monster and man. Freedom and restraint. Loneliness and connection. For me, this was a messy, darkly funny love story. And I can appreciate it for that!

I don't think much of these movies tbh but I'm always in for Woody Harrelson. What did you think of his Carnage performance? Hopefully you get to see him and Matthew McConaughey in True Detective soon, two absolute acting clinics.

Just finished the reaction! Great video. The post credit scene was probably one of the first times in years where I got excited in a post credits scene. I remember sitting up when it happened. Lol So without spoilers but Venom did mention to Eddie in the scene that his species have a hive mind that spans to universes so this Venom never met Spider-Man but he knows about him through memories of other versions of himself in other timelines that fought a Peter Parker which is why he said “That guy”. Traditionally in most timelines like you saw in Tobey’s Spider-Man 3, Peter bonds with the symbiote first but rejects it as it corrupts him. Then it bonds with Eddie who also hates Spidey and they became Venom. Also this is after Far From Home when Mysterio revealed MCU Peter’s identity & people think he’s a murderer.
