other projects
Added 2021-06-19 06:15:52 +0000 UTCokay, so recently i posted a thing over on itch.io about the 1.1 progress for 'the new hive', which included the latest draft that i posted here, the werewolf game draft, and also a third thing i can't really mention on patreon (:V).
right now i've been really wanting to work on some smaller projects that i can, you know, finish in a short amount of time -- i put together that third thing in like, two weeks, and it's something like 20k words so far, and that felt pretty good. i've been putting together a few other twine game demos recently, although none of them are really in a position to show off yet. basically every time i have a game idea, it's some massive sprawling thing that would require hundreds of thousands of words of content to not feel totally barren; i definitely have an issue with scoping my games reasonably. so i figured i'd ask here for inspiration/suggestions: do any of you have any game concepts that you'd think would fit into the realm of 20k-50k words of content? like not tiny, but fairly compact and small in scope. everything i think of is always like "a big sprawling landscape full of stuff", which is nice and all but it tends to be pretty unfocused and diffuse.

yeah, i don't know if i'm gonna 100% finish and polish the gold saucer thing, but i did just outline a 'story' with a few steps through & multiple endings, so i'll probably finish that much at least. also ty, glad you enjoy!
2021-06-23 00:03:26 +0000 UTCFrom some of your recent AOE3 posts and past works, I was gonna suggest some perverted re-imagining of FF7, but it looks like you've got it covered. Your Red XIII stuff is so good.

2021-06-21 05:12:05 +0000 UTCyeah, that's the hard part, definitely. like, i guess the ideal would be some kind of game with _some_ internal mechanics (tf, exploration, dialog puzzles, investigation, etc) and a plot & setting that's conducive to weird monster porn, with an actual story arc & ending that's achieveable within that word count. (i've been reading a whole lot of litrpg stuff recently and that kind of audience-participation CYOA is something i've vaguely considered but idk if i'd be able to keep up the pace required for that kind of thing, or avoid getting tangled in plot threads)
2021-06-19 16:27:49 +0000 UTCI guess my question is - what would you consider to be a game? an on-rails CYOA text game or a patreon-input story might hit the word length you mentioned, but I'm not sure if those are things you'd be interested in
