I've never heard anyone defend the {redacted} plotline. I really try to see the best in things, but there's really not anything good about that plotline. I suppose there's a bit where (spoilers upcoming I guess) . . . Lennier splits off from the main cast and has some of his own adventures in the rangers. But there are simpler ways that could have happened honestly. Or maybe that could have just been the end of it, and he cooled his head off and got over it. Like, a bit about how reverence for a mentor can sometimes lead to twisted romantic feelings that aren't really appropriate might have been good, actually. But nope.
