Obviously, not a light subject. But on the bright side, the last 15 minutes of the discussion surprisingly turned into a Stargate Atlantis talk haha, so it ends on a positive note haha.

(Wow, this was in a neglected tab a long time. ) Thought I'd mention, though, that I've heard from a lot of men, particularly gay men on political forums, and they have their own reasons to be like 'WTF, United States' on that whole routine circumcision-as-somehow-medical that has nothing to do with Jewish customs, except inasmuch as it may be connected to weird Christian pseudo-health-ideas from early last century that like boys shouldn't be touching their privates so they need to do that to all weenies for 'hygeine,' which is a pretty thoroughly-debunked idea that seems to mostly be advocated for by Fundies who are complete hypocrites about trans surgery that way on top of it all. Cause a lot of Fundies do want to *appropriate* like Hebrew practices on a bunch of levels while ...also being antisemitic. Personally I hae a pet theory that maybe dudes in America would be less likely to be all messed up about sex and gender stuff if they weren't routinely traumatized in the weenie from the jump. But I know it means something different to a number of actually-Jewish dudes who may think it's weird American medical tradition rationalizes the practice, too.
