People Don't Understand Trans Art

From Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse to Nimona to Owl House, let's dive into how people never understand queer art and the commodification of trans pain. I intended this video to be an easier one, TBH, but I ended up getting wrapped up in it and think it's one of my better videos, surprisingly, even though I made it while moving this past week. <3 I hope you all like it; it's one where I finally get to talk about stuff I'm excited about rather than darker things, though we still touch on that. It's nice to talk about the importance of queer art while I'm making queer art with my own film.

Thank you all again by the way, for continuing to support me <3 Identiteaze is about to film in a few weeks, hopefully, and I just FINALLY tonight finished unpacking all my stuff from the move. Nervous and excited; too much to do.

Thank you Liam

Seriously, the amount of media illiteracy on display from the people arguing against the trans characterizations (whether their ignorance was deliberate or not) was genuinely painful to watch. Great video as usual, Jessie. I hope your move to a new place goes smoothly and I can't wait for Identiteaze! Just don't let James Rolfe hear you talking that way about boxes. He likes boxes!

I watched Nimona last weekend. When she was finally "seen" at that pivotal moment, I was at first keeping it somewhat together, but those words resulted in tears starting to uncontrollably stream down my face. I suddenly realised I was quickly running out of air. I tried to take a subtle breath, and it came out as a massive, horrendous snort, followed by an audible kinda yelp I couldn't hold back. My subtle tears had shifted into a full, ugly, snot everywhere cry. Something I have NEVER done since transitioning, and I celebrated by 10th "birthday" (10 years since first T shot) just days before! My girlfriend paused the movie and we just wept together for a moment. Highly recommend that movie to all! Just have the tissues at the ready lol. These stories are important, but it turns out people are a little thick and they won't get it until it's blatantly in their face - it's time to be clear and blatant!

Omg, Lying Cat! I would like one, even if I have promised myself that I won't buy any corporate merch anymore. but for real, I admit that when I watched Spider-Verse, it didn't cross my mind that Gwen might be trans, but just the simple sentence 'Gwen is trans' is kind of rearranging the film in my head in an interesting way. Excited to watch this video, hope I have some time soon :D
