Masculinity Video Trans Masc Addition

Hey everyone! So the second part of the Masculinity video went live today. It's technically a slightly different version from the Patron version. There's nothing huge of substance different between the version you all watch and the version live on Nebula and YouTube, as it's mostly just small tweaks I noticed after I released the Patron version that I wanted to fix. However, one criticism I saw on the first part of the video that I thought was a good one was the lack of trans masc viewpoints in the video. While I wanted this video to be a personal one from a trans femme perspective, I also realize that leaving trans men out of the conversation left many feeling ignored and I never want anyone to feel like I don't care or don't hear their POV. As a result, I reached out to the wonderful Finntastic Mr. Fox (Swolesome on YouTube) to see if he wanted to add anything to the video and the conversation, and he sent me this section that I added to the video, and I wanted to release it separately to all of you on Patron as I know many of you probably watched the full video here on Patreon, not the version released on YouTube which I added this section to. He had such amazing and thoughtful things to say that I think you all would appreciate.  I want to also let you all know that, once I have time with everything going on, I hope to do a video focused on giving trans men my platform to talk about their perspective, so I'm so honored to have Finn give his few thoughts that I think make the Masculinity video even better.

I have learned so much about societal gender roles by listening to other trans people. I have also gained a greater insight into the struggles cis men face trying to figure out their own gender presentation. I don't think it's fair that half of the population is socially expected to act like unfeeling robots. I also know that a lot of the negative traits associated with masculinity are directly linked to homophobia and sexism and that as society as a whole moves away from that young men are finding it easier to connect with other men because there is less baggage associated with doing so.

Finn is the best person <3

This was so thoughtful. I really love Finn, I’ve found the content on the channel so helpful in navigating my own identity and my relationship to both my masculinity and my relationship to femininity.

Haha yeah. I thought about that too. I can't make a video about all things for every single perspective... but I also want to try to make people feel heard. Its a constant tension.

This video was a massive gift to me... I don't know how to put it in words... I've struggled with a lot of things you talk about. I know you have reason to not trust new faces in your Patreon but I'm here because I loved what you have to say, and I've been a fan on the side lines for a while now!

You were clear on how you did the videos, and I love them. So so well done and thoughtful and incredible! I’ve been sharing them. This wasn’t your dissertation on masculinity as a whole, and there is no “gap” by not having trans mascs in the original videos. I do love what Finn shared and I’m excited to finish watching the YouTube version to see where you put that in. But also, your videos were also great how they were originally. 💖

remmedy - they them

I find it interesting that people brought up trans men in your comments when even in your Part 2, at about 11:40, you even talk about making long videos because if there’s a gap, people comment! And then it happened!

remmedy - they them

This was so interesting and caught me by surprise. It helped me understand masculinity so much better.

I've noticed recently that all of the trans creators I know of on YouTube are trans women. So having a trans man's perspective is really nice.
