Masculinity Video - Comic Animation Showcase

Hey everyone; so I'm wrapping up my video on Masculinity soon, and while it's honestly been a rough one to make for very personal reasons, I'm really proud of a lot of what I do in it and I wanted to tease and showoff some of it to you. This is a segment of the video that I've been working on (and it's still in progress ) that I'm excited about where I had Thought Slime and Zoe Bee act out a scene from an autobiographic comic (Ducks by Kate Beaton) that I'm citing throughout the video and discussing in terms of Masculinity. I'm rather proud of the sound design and acting work in this; so I wanted to share it because I've been having a lot of anxiety around this video because I talk about some personally traumatizing stuff in the video; and want to just remind myself of the positivity and exciting things I'm doing with this work, not just the stuff that's been difficult for me to work on. I hope you enjoy it as much as I was excited to make this bit.

Feels real deep, and probably will help to hear.

I love this! Very well done, and intriguing! I can’t wait to see the finished video. ❤️

The line “I want my people. My people don’t want me,” hits my younger self particularly hard. Very curious to see this video, love the transitions from comic to the blue lit vehicle, sets a really melancholy mood.

Can't wait for this one. Thank you for your willingness to talk about these things. 💙

Oh, this is gonna be one of those heavy-but-cathartic videos, I can tell. Very nicely done.

Well done, Ms. Earl.

Omigod, I recognised Zoe Bee but didn't realise that was Thought Slime. Nice voice acting!

I like it! 😄

Fantastic sound design to match the comic and the music is gorgeous. I want more comics and manga to have this be applied to them on an artistic level it’s captivating. Great work Jessie! Now I’m gonna go read Ducks! I’m also preparing myself for the river of tears when this one gets released. 😭
