Hope you had fun in LA. My 2 pence on this finale, is you're right about it feeling like an end to the story of family Din, like next couple seasons they won't (really) be involved. As for the 'lacklustre payoff', I think this season was too short. I think the stories they told needed more space to play out. A lot of the earlier story lines were also happening simultaneously, and would have benefited from being shown overlapped, instead of as their own short stories; especially the side story of Pershing. Breaking that episode up into smaller chunks and having them interspersed in the previous episode would have allowed a build up of the anticipation and feelings of danger at the top: when Cap goes to fleet command if we'd seen more about her spread out through the season, that interaction with the spy would feel more impactful; especially if the end of Pershing was to come at the end of that episode... (have them captured at the end of the previous episode, but the scene with the mindflayer after she's met the Cap)
