Jumpgate #54 - Point of No Return

We've finally hit one of the biggest turning points in the entirety of Babylon 5, and one of my favorite episodes of the series. No spoilers, but THER EIS A LOT to discuss with this one on the Jumpgate podcast.

The upscaled Babylon 5 is on Tubi now FYI.

That's entirely fair, though what I don't follow is why letting that person live would have been a good idea for anyone. That's why I didn't see it as the most reasonable interpretation.

Becky Sparks

Agree with you on the second part. But there is another person who was at Z'ha'dum who refers to themselves as "already dead" who I believe fits the bill better and Londo does kill.

Julian

Yeah, I could never decide which interpretation I agreed with about the eye thing. With the other two, there's a specific one that makes the most sense to me. I kinda dig the ambiguity, though.

Becky Sparks

I won't go into spoilers but as with all prophecies there are several possibilities of intepretation. The eye thing has two, the other one has at least two. But I agree that she was more concerned about his soul.

spoilers below, though I still kept it vague - please avoid if you don't want spoilers . . . . . . I have always thought Lady Morella was telling Londo how to save his soul, but not his life. I've never been certain what the first line of the prophecy meant, but I've always assumed "Do no kill the one who is already dead" refers to the person who goes to Z'ha'dum, and that his greatest fear is the death that he's foreseen.

You kids are adorable. You are so sweetly naive and adorable. I'm guessing this is before your time and has slipped from the cultural zeitgeist, but this is why so many shows have a General Haig (or Hague): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Haig#Reagan_assassination_attempt:_'I_am_in_control_here' Sure, he would later say he was in a panic, people thought the Russians might have been behind the shooting, and Haig wanted to make sure those "Evil Ruskies" knew someone still had their finger on the button, but what he did is more commonly called a non-violent coup. Fortunately, it didn't take. When it was pointed out on the Babylon5 usenet group that General Hague's ship was the Alexander, JMS replied something like "whoa" and then "sometimes my subconscious doesn't tell me what it's up to." Hunting down the exact quote sounds like a lot of work, so we're going with whatever my cheesecloth memory is tossing up to me.
