March Patron Update

Hey everyone! Here's the monthly patron update. Sorry it's a bit late, but given everything going on with Nebula and Identiteaze, I'm sure you all understand! I share a bit of updates on things going on in my life, but also, I share some of the artwork I got at Emerald City Comic Con this past weekend <3

I know you wrestle with feeling guilty for focusing on personal projects instead of constantly pushing back and fighting the fight, but please also remember that seeing your trans joy is a very powerful part of the fight. Seeing trans and queer creators thrive with a smile is one of the best ways to prove that hope and love are infinitely greater than hate. Thank you for all that you do and make sure to keep taking care of yourself so you can keep inspiring all of us to live long and prosper ❀️

Congrats on having a fun time the Comic Con and seeing all the art you brought back.

Not to worry, Comfort (who's currently writing this comment) can be the exact same way ;) We're finishing taxes now, but will have an portrait illustration proposal for you in your messages soon enough! <3

Haha yeah it was... a lot so totally makes sense

Oh... my... god.

Jessie Earl

Haha thank you so much for understanding my brain was dead haha

I love how happy that art makes you...πŸ˜„πŸ˜„β€οΈ And the transphobic conversation is important of course, but taking a break from it is equally important to focus on exciting and positive things and restore mental health. I look forward to your continued projects! πŸ’ž

Hmmm, they could call a remake "Banjo Re-dui"

Aaaah! It was so great to meet you in person, Jessie, and we're thrilled you enjoyed our art so much. And don't worry about Adam's name! Since he started settling into his feminine style in the last couple years, he's been called worse! 🀣 We're happy our work can be in such a great collection, and best of luck with your new adventure! Nebula clearly knows a good bet when they see one!

Comfort and Adam

oh, Nebula is funding the film, i misunderstood what was happening. such great news

Love all the artwork! But of course that Banjo Kazooie one takes the cake! Seriously when is Microsoft gonna get on remaking them! Oh and in terms of horror comics/graphic novels I highly recommend "The Autumnal", a gorgeous and haunting 8 issue graphic novel. And if you want some Lovecraft, Gou Tanabe adapted "At the Mountains of Madness" in a B/W manga. Plus he adapted short stories in a collection call "H.P. Lovecraft's The Hound and Other Stories" that I loved. If you want vampires Shuzo Oshimi made a manga series called "Happiness" but like anything made by Oshimi it's a brutal read. Ryukishi07 also adapted their visual novels into manga: "Higurashi When They Cry". And of course as you mentioned you can't go wrong with Junji Ito, one of my all time favorite mangaka! If you have any horror comics/graphic novels to recommend I love to hear them! I read a lot of manga last year but not nearly enough comics/graphic novels and horror is my favorite genre.

The world needs more art and beauty, especially when everything looks to be going to hell. It's important to fight but it's also important to live. I get that I'm in the privileged position to not be fighting for my right to exist but if nothing else, for your own well being, Jessie you have got to keep making art and things you enjoy. If for no other reason than to have the strength to fight on. Also, my convention weakness is dice. I have spent literal hundreds of dollars on dice over the years. Do I need them, nope, do I want them? GIVE ME MY PRECIOUS NUMBER ROCKS.

I’m pleased that you have lots of cool creative and positive things going on right now Jessie! Great art has an edge of defiance, creating a critique of reality (often implicitly) from a new perspective. I really hope you can channel what’s going on now and your positive energy into a defiant vibe in your story telling adventures! I’m sure you’ll have lots of opportunities to use your art as a way to express yourself. Take care. Xx

It's ok Jessie, I am like 99+% femme-attracted, and I also have a crush on Pedro. I think it's just the correct thing to do.

That was supposed to say [gestures vaguely] in the brackets. For some reason I forgot the pointy brackets are html tags. OoOpS

Hi Jessie! ❀️ I haven't been around much lately because of <> pretty much everything going in in half the country and other countries has me goddamn depressed and anxious and filled with rage. I'm super excited to see your film, though, because... well because you're awesome, but also because you understand the whole reason science fiction exists, and my mind is racing as to what amazing stuff you're about to pull off. And I'm glad to see you so happy about it. And I wish you, and your friends & family, and all your other patrons the best in these extremely difficult times. Love to everyone reading this.

Love the Dragon art you were showcasing. As a D&D fan, I think you'll like a reference book I used to have "The Art of Dragonlance" that came out AGES ago. It has a lot of art by people like Larry Elmore, The Hildebrant brothers and much, much more.
