I talk about my upcoming short film kickstarter; the slower but bigger release schedule I got coming; and some of the projects that I'm hoping to do this year. And all of it wouldn't be possible without you all; so thank you for supporting me and creating this amazing community that I would be nothing without. I adore you all; and I hope I do you all proud with some cool stuff this year; while also trying to find a better balance with my physical and mental health going forward <3

JANUARY 2023 Patron Update!

JEEEESSSSSIE! <3 Happy New year! I love the videos you make and the way you express yourself and your thoughts! I've been a "silent subscriber" for soon to be 3 years now. (I usually never comment on anything - let alone subscribe to someone's Patreon. But here I am.) This message might be semi-long, but I just wanted to take a little time to thank you SO much for all you have done, and keep doing! Your video essays have really helped me and guided me from "young queer" into being a more reflected and informed queer adult - and finally I have some resources to put back into the people who've meant something to me. I love that you are adjusting and thinking about what is important for you. As they tell me every single time I get on a plane: Put the mask on yourself first before attempting to help anyone else, even your kids. Speaking of kids, I wanted to let you know about a legacy you might not have known that you have. I live and work in Norway, where I for the past year have spoken to kids in schools all over the country (10 to 20-year-olds. 20–1500 kids a week depending on the size of the schools, totaling in on around 10 thousand kids for 2022!) about queer rights, sexuality and gender identity, anti-discrimination and intersectionality. Your videos have helped me especially much with navigating difficult topics and "pop-personalities" that hurl hateful shit onto the internet and the kinds' social medias. Thanks to you my work has been better, I've been able to connect with kids and talk to them about what they have seen online and help them through the sometimes difficult path of finding a new way to view the world. It is a very giving job: Seeing the change happening in young minds; allowing them to grab onto a rope and climb up onto a path of love instead of disappearing down into an unforgiving comment section filled with misinformation and/or malintent. And therefore I want to give back to you! Know that you have helped - and will continue to help - so, SO many, even "just" with the work you have done. It bears fruits and keeps on giving. I will keep doing my work this year, and as a thank you, give a little back to you here on Patreon in the hopes that it allows you to do something that brings you joy (even if the algorithms won't always praise you for it). It is well deserved for what you have done. Spend it however you like, it is already earned. Looking to the future with hope and determination. Catch a break and live long and prosper <3

Yes! Make the videos that bring you joy, because we enjoy them too! I'm so glad you're looking out for your own health. And yeah, that whole travel meltdown was miserable.

Hi Jessie! I have been following your videos for at least a year now (I believe I found you through your Mark Rober video, I'm autistic and wanted to follow you for content about autism lol) and I've finally made the jump to being a patron :-) thank you for all you do 💗

I'm glad you made it back home safely. I bet Newt was glad to see you. All of your plans sounds great to me. I like to see creators growing and doing new things. It would be amazing if you could get your film turned into a show! I'm excited to see what happens in the future.

It's a shame that the weather disrupted your plans. Looking forward Sex in DS9 video and hope that you can focus on stuff that allows you to avoid topics that affect your ,mental health.

Happy New Year Jessie, sounds like a solid plan. Get/stay healthy and some non doom and gloom content. Your videos covering all the bad stuff this year where fantastic, but are pretty depressing just to watch. I can't imagine what it felt like to have to research/film them. Please take care of yourself and I look forward to more fun & dorky videos.

Happy New Year and welcome back to the Pacific Northwest! I think your plans for the year are incredibly healthy, from both a mental health and a work/life balance perspective. Seeing this video you seem so happy and excited and that is so great to see. I also loved the short “Star Trek Hill I Will Die On” video, and that format seems like a fun way to produce content for your second channel. I can’t wait for the Kickstarter for your short film! Thank you for being such an amazing person Jessie and I hope your year just gets better each and every day!

Happy New Year, Jessie!! First, please do try to find a good work life balance between content, self care, healthy habits, etc. Second, I’ll be the 1st to back your short film on Kickstarter. Third, your content plans for this year sound really great…should we expect a Sex in Star Trek Volume 4 from the Voyager series in 2024? Love all that you do Jessie. Keep up the good fight for a better world for all of us. ~ Lily G. (hopefully, I’ll be able to make some more progress on updating my name across all the places it’s found.)

Heya Jessie! A proper, maintainable work life balance is important! As far as your work on anti trans rhetoric, that stuff totally messes with ones mental health. I'm trans myself and keeping aware of current events can just be so draining a lot of the time! I really dig and have gotten into your stuff, because of your being positive and, and concentrating more on what you like about things, rather than criticizing. I'm totally in support more for videos and such that are positive! As far as specific ideas, I'd love to hear your thoughts on/making a long form essay on 1) -the Prime Directive and 2)-the Eugenics Wars, they're two of my favorite trek topics. In addition, I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Wheel of Time book series as you continue to read it! In closing, I just wanna say I'm glad to be here, and looking forward to supporting your work in the future! -Dana

stuck in Buffalo, where Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo buffalo Buffalo Buffalo. Re Joseph Campbell, i would recommend an episode of the podcast Ken and Robin Talk About Stuff from Sept 16, 2022 "Joseph Campbell in a Jar" where they rip apart Campbell's theories from a different vector than most of the other criticism.
