Star Trek Prodigy 1.15 "Masquerade" Review

We're already at the mid-mid-season finale, and we finally get some backstory on Dal! And it's the return of Jellico to Star Trek!

Star Trek Prodigy 1.15 "Masquerade" Review

Comments

I had to set aside this video to watch today, as "Prodigy" airs in Canada on the sci-fi channel on Thursday evenings. Re. Dal, I really felt for him. I felt the moment when he realised he had no parents was emotionally significant, but there was no opportunity (Romulans etc) to deal with it. His search for his family wasn't what he had hoped (happens to so many of us). Maybe his genetic status is a kind of metaphor for adolescence (so many changes the body goes through, and Trek loves to do the metaphor thing). Until you mentioned the art work, Jessie, I admit I kinda took it for granted. I expected it to be good. On rewatch, I certainly appreciated that more (and I always watch the opening credits from start to finish because I love how it looks). p.s. - Ronnie Cox is 84 - happy he's still working!

Great to see Jellico again, and seeing Janeway having to abide his orders after her being almost unchallenged on Voyager was interesting. Glad that she has acknowledged that these are kids she's after and showing some sensitivity about it. The reveal that Dal is an agument was clever and opens up further conflict between the Prodigy crew and Starfleet given the way augments are treated. I did not see the reveal about the Trill ensign coming. The fight scenes with the Romulans aboard the elevators were awesome. Can't wait to see what's next.
