Also thank you for addressing (at least theoretically) your constructive critique to the writers and producers. Maybe between you and the other (what we might call the) "Here's what we like, and yet we can do even better" critics like Steve Shives, those of us who are supporters may be heard by those making these series.

Jessie, thank you so, so much for the clarity you provided in this episode with the insight that so many of the issues come up in the new trek series because the writers haven't had a chance to complete their concept of the season's story arc before the season's production!!! That makes so much sense. We also find it quite troubling because it seems we're most likely to be stuck in this pattern ongoing. That's seriously frustrating.

Oh, it's a shame I can only like this vid once.

Thank you so much Alnarra. And yeah, I heard the same about Meyer's idea, wish it had happened, I loved the Greg Cox books

I think what I love most about your take on this is the nuance in approaching Picard (and really almost any topic). It's nice to have some introspection on the series that isn't necessarily "Positive" or "Negative". Now having spent a few years writing myself I've come to take a greater appreciation for how hard it is to do, especially in a corporates scenario where you have executives / etc. that are simply looking for you to produce more and more. I know Nicholas Myers had mentioned in an interview that when he proposed a Khan based series / movie to Paramount to fill in the missing spots, he had asked for I think only 3 or 4 hours tops, but they wanted to extend it to a season. It feels a lot like something similar happened here (by studio involvement or not who's to say). I think the Modern Trek Franchise suffers from a lot of the same flaws that Moffet's Dr. Who does, where long term arc type stories are just proving really difficult to do. I think DS9 got away with what it did because it took "breaks" as it were from the arc so often. Poor Discovery and Picard's scripts are so tight in that regard that it seems difficult to put the A plot in the background for a moment. Anyway, all this to say, thank you for your optimism, l think I find myself in a similar spot. I quite like the new series, I take issue with them in a lot of respects, but like you said they are just trying something new, and sometimes that doesn't work, and that is ok.
