March 2022 Patron Update - Some Stuff Happened

Hey everyone, so some stuff happened this month... hence why this update is so late... and I wanted to share it with all of you and what it's been making me thinking about.

Sounds like a great job for past you, but not where you are now. I can imagine that's really painful. What was it Zhaan said "dreams like that are not found, they are built". You are building it, but it takes time and you need rest.

Hey Jesse, it seems like Star Trek has helped you again in your life, because making that kind of decision is also what makes you grow and although it was tough it makes you a stronger person and leads you to take a wise decision like concentrate on one video a month, take more time for you, try to live a healthier life, etc. Also you have so much talent, that, like everyone here tells you, I know there will be other offers. So glad you want to make a short movie, I already can't wait to see it ! Love you much, I'm so proud of you. Take care. I almost signed Mom ! 🙂

I cheered out loud at "I realized I need to slow down." That statement has been my north star for this past year and it has completely transformed my life and creative work. YES! Your work is amazing AND you deserve rest and downtime AND these things are not mutually exclusive, in fact they feed each other. You are already successful, already worthy of your dreams, already doing more than enough, and you have absolutely nothing to prove at this point. I'm so proud to be one of your fans and so excited for what's to come!

"You have given me the gift to be able to face my fears" - your video resonates so hard this months. As a person who has a lot of regrets and mental scars due to not taking a chance on herself in specific times in her (job) life, it is f*cking inspiring to watch you face these things, work through them and go your very personal way. I wish I would have had the courage when I was your age. (Which feels absolutely insane and very weird to write, but it is true, so I will embrace the awkwardness and leave it in.) You got this. I also really applaud your watching out for your energy resources and experimenting with the structure of your life to find sustainability. (Another thing that Past-Me was not able to do and that Present-Me therefore celebrates extra hard.) All the best from Germany! Astrid (Frau Tiger is my Patreon pseudonym)

Holy Heavens! Love that. Jessie, to echo what’s been said, you made the only real choice open to you: continue as you are, where you’re free to grow your creative passions and contribute / celebrate / welcome others to Trek in ways that job would not have allowed you to do. It may’ve been trek, it just wasn’t the right trek role for you. What you’re doing now, it works, and works bloody well. Plus, I totally get the temperature thing - when it’s too hot I get really ill and heat stroke knocks. It’s horrible. Your mental health is so vital too. Follow your dreams. You’ve got this!

I am so proud of you and am thankful i've had the privilege of watching you on this journey. I cannot imagine how hard this decision was, i'm not sure i would have been strong enough to have made it, but you made the right decision, to be true to yourself, to follow your heart. As interesting as the job you were offered might be, i honestly think you best serve the dream of Star Trek right now by doing what you are doing here.

***hugs*** You made the right choice, IMO, but boy that must have been hard. It wasn't a chance for you to make a creative contribution. You'll contribute more to Star Trek as you are!

this needs to be said again: "Work takes up a ton of your life, and if it doesn't make you happy... then it's not worth it." Often the aspiration we have is unfulfilling, just because the job says "Star Trek" in it does not mean you'll be happy. I think Jessie made the right decision. I personally think that if Jessie had taken this job, in a few months she'd be unhappy and trying to pretend she wasn't. She's happiest doing her own thing.

If you had decided to take the job, I would have supported you. having said that, I'm in LA area for a 3 month work assignment, and dang, you are right about how isolating and sprawling this place is. tot's support your decision, luv ya

Hugs. I'm sorry they made it so untenable. There is better yet to come. I have a friend down here who has panic attacks when she has too many days in a row without clouds. Love you.

You have to do what is best for you... if you have doubts on a move or job, then you shouldn't take it. I have done career coaching and if a job doesn't meet all your core values or breaks them, you shouldn't take it. Work takes up a ton of your life, and if it doesn't make you happy... then it's not worth it.
