Sending you ((hugs)) ! No comparative life experience but my journey through the UK's mental health system has been all over the place. How can you manage your own healthcare when at times you can't even manage your life at times.

I’ve also had it cancelled. Been waiting for a couple years then I couldn’t work for completed unrelated reasons and lost my insurance. Now I gotta start over from 0 too and it also feels like my life is on hold until I can get it. It just sucks so much. I don’t even leave the house anymore if I can help it the dysphoria is so bad. I hope august comes quick for you or a spot opens up sooner.

I don't care who you are or what it is, anyone who has been waiting an entire year for something only to have it cancelled at the very last minute because of reasons you have absolutely no control over is going to be pretty devastated! Your feelings are valid, your disappointment is justified, your frustration is understandable.
