"The Wheel of Time" Ep 6 Review BY ONE WHO NEVER READ THE BOOKS

Nice, I started reading the books in the late 90s. It's actually one of the ways I've learned English, by reading a ton of books, and this series was one of them. It's been a huge escape. I found the contrast of the description of the male and female source very fascinating, and it sprung back into my mind when I started HRT, because I realized it's actually a relatively good description of how T and E feel in comparison to each other. I had to fight T, fight to stay alive, fight to keep in control, or it would swallow me up, but E, I can just float. I can just let it flow through me.

The use of the Oath Rod in the exile was a wild touch; it doesn't really allow her any wiggle room later. What if Siuan is killed or deposed? By the wording they used, she's out forever. I get how Siuan felt it was necessary to make it believable to the rest of the "Sitters" in the Hall... but wow.

As someone who DID read the books - I'm actually liking this take so far. There's just NO WAY to take the books and do justice to them in visual form, esp. for a wider audience. They're doing enough abridging and combining of characters and plot elements to keep the story tight, without throwing out the original entirely. I'm NOT getting "but the book was better" vibes - I'm getting "the book was different."
