2021-11-29 07:52:30 +0000 UTCI've never played League of Legends. I'm a HUGE Marvel fan, and this has been an amazing year for Marvel television shows. I point this out because, in my opinion, this is best thing on any TV platform right now. It is fantastic. The writing is wonderful, rich and relatable. The plot threads never feel like they get lost or wander off without addressing them. Each character arc had weight, each character had clear motivations that followed through. Jesse's point about Silco is absolutely on point. He ranks as one of my all-time favorite antagonists because he just makes so much sense as a character. ****Minor Spoiler**** The developing relationship between Vi and Caitlyn pleases me to no end. I've heard some people complain that they didn't have an explicit sex scene together the way that Jayce and Mel did, but Jayce and Mel had known each other for a very long time by the time they became lovers, whereas Vi and Cait only met very recently. I feel like their relationship is building, but it doesn't feel like baiting to me. Cait is outright referred to as Vi's girlfriend by Jinx, and Cait at one point straight up asks Vi, during a disagreement, "What about us?" It reads as a developing relationship that is wonderful and it is given the same weight for the characters that any heterosexual relationship would - no more and no less. I like it that the sexuality of the characters is important for the characters but not their defining traits. It just felt like really solid representation to me. ....I wrote this comment before hearing Jesse's point all the way through. She made a lot of my points for me. In terms of trans characters, my hope is that they expand representation in the next season and perhaps have a trans character in the ensemble. I have high hopes for this show; it was such an epic surprise.
