The Divisive Politics of Bisexual Superman
Added 2021-10-20 19:22:42 +0000 UTCLast week, the entire internet got in a huge hubbub because, turns out DC Comics Superman, the hero that stands for truth, justice, and the American way, will be revealed to be bisexual in an upcoming issue of his comic releasing next month! And, sadly, because like everything today, from toilet paper to fictional characters’ sexuality, a lot of people had a lot of things to say online.
Now, we’ve all been here before when it comes to pop culture from James Bond to Loki to Clark Kent. But what I found most interesting this time was who was getting in on the conversation. Politicians. Not only that but it was brought up on every major news channel and site from Fox News to CNN. Why do politicians and news channels focus on… you know… actual news so ready to jump on the conversation around the sexuality of superheroes around pop culture?
