Agreed with you on all this. It's super questionable.

Jessie Earl

<3 I'm so sorry that happened to you. And that's such a gross thing to have to deal with.

Jessie Earl

Indeed!

Jessie Earl

Right. It's something I wish I had brought up in the video, but how do you expose yourself in a nude spa?

Jessie Earl

Indeed, very very ture.

Jessie Earl

The timing of this is just too convenient for terfs. Something seems off to me. The fact that the sex offender label gets applied to this person on the basis of prior indecent exposure charges leaves a lot of room for the possibility that those incidents were also not actually true. But the term itself carries so much weight because of the fear it generates. Sex offender covers a lot different crimes but I know for me when I hear it my mind jumps to the worst possible meaning.

That was my thought as well. As in, a trans woman with a visible penis, even in a space where nudity is otherwise expected and normal, is still very probably offensive to a transphobic person. She wouldn't even have to do anything, just existing in that space is probably enough.

This was my thought as well. It is entirely possible that this is not the first time she has been targeted this way and as you said once there is a conviction whether valid or not it becomes something people point to as concrete.

I keep wondering what constitutes this woman's definition of indecent exposure: a trans woman simply being in their space? It's like Doing X while Black. Your mere existence is the offense.

I really hate that this person said this. It's just an excuse for their transsexism. I hate that you had to hear that

Even if this one woman DID expose herself. It doesn't make all trans women dangerous :(

I had a falling out with an old friend over this incident as they claimed "this behavior justifies hatred against trans people and gays" and that segregation of trans people should be mandatory.

I can't stop thinking... trans women are being charged for being "sex workers" just for walking down a street and having a condom in their purse (that's literally all it takes at times), and the next time that maybe happens to the same woman, police will even be able to claim "previous charges" against her. Also law enforcement as a whole doesn't have a good track record when it comes to misgendering trans people, especially trans women. Sometimes trans women are criminalised just for existing. Also, the place is a spa, and people are normally naked around there. Indecent exposure (at least to my knowledge) usually is understood to be getting naked in front of people in a place where nudity is not expected, or in a way that is offensive. And again I cannot stop thinking, wouldn't the fact of a trans woman existing and being nude in a spa (and be it an inclusive one) already count as indecent exposure to a person like Cubana Angel, or to a DA she complains to? Because she just being in that space is already considered to be offensive? Hm.
