The Suicide Squad directed by James Gunn has finally released. But did it live up to expectations?

The Suicide Squad SPOILER Review & Discussion

I think if I hadn't seen Birds of Prey recently I wouldn't have bothered with the Suicide Squad. Loved Birds of Prey, not even as a comic book movie. Like as a movie generally. I made a Harley Quinn doll in the red dress but did it from production photos so half of the film I was staring at the dress the other half I was trying to calm down from a panic attack :( I haven't been to the cinema in years and so much has changed. I struggled. Harley kicking ass was one of the most glorious things I've ever seen. Need to watch the movie again though...

It's interesting. I mean, I liked the rats metaphor, but it felt out of place when next to the literal killing of POC right before the end piece about the rats

They're apparently doing an Blue Beetle movie for HBO Max, which I'm so pumped for, not sure who is directing tho!

I was surprised they killed Rick Flag, I thought they would keep him around for more Suicide Squad films. I'd still like to see him return, maybe as the host for one of the other incarnations of Starro to explain why he'd be alive. I would have liked to have seen some more of the other squad before they got killed, particularly TDK and Mongal. Great film overall Idria Alba was great of course, I'd love to see Bloodsport Ratcatcher 2 and King Shark return in another project. Looking forward to the Peacemaker series. Hopefully after Guardians 3 James Gunn does more with the DC universe, I'd love to see him do a Blue Beetle and Booster Gold film.

I saw the film in french so maybe it doesn't feel quite the same in english...

It really feels very strange and then my daughter told me that immigrants were often refered to as "rats"... I don't know... it feels too close for confort.

Thank you for the review, I just saw the movie with my daughter and we had a lot of fun too until the end, when they sort of compare "the people" (or immigrants) torats ! It felt weird to me when she says "it belongs to them" but then at the end when her father tells her that "rats are the lowliest and most despised of all creatures... if they have purpose so do we all

Excellent review! If you are a fan of Joel Kinnaman, I would also recommend watching The Killing. First thing I saw him in and was blown away by his work.
