Hiya Jessie. It's Monday afternoon, so whatever decision you're gonna make is likely made at this point. Fortunately you're solid enough in your *self* that the chatterings of a stranger shouldn't change the decision you've made. Firstly, HOLY CRAP! CONGRATS! it's always an achievement to be noticed in your field. Gamespot wouldn't have approached you if someone didn't see your work and wanted that talent and skill in their organization. This. Is. A. GOOD. Thing. So I'm super-happy for you. It's nice to be wanted y'know. Secondly, and from a purely selfish standpoint on my part, San Francisco is a city where, being a Sacramentan, I could more conveniently and affordably attend any potential community or Jessie Fan Club meetups. Seattle is lovely, but it takes me 12 hours to drive up 1-5 to get there, SF on the other hand is 3 hours down 1-80. Like I mentioned, purely selfish on my part. Lastly, whatever you've chosen to do, your community is pulling for you a hundred percent. Gamespot would be *LUCKY* to have you, and since it's your choice, don't put unnecessary pressures on yourself, do what your heart tells you to. You'll be a brilliant voice in favor of the trans community either way. Regardless of which way you go, you're only going to improve your art and skill. You are proving that you can build a community and a career on your own, and that you don't need an organization to gift that platform to you. Continue to build and you'll have even more opportunities to share yourself with the world. You got this.

I'd suggest watching Nature of Work again. And ask yourself if moving is worth it and if this could be a good financial move for you. Or if this isn't something you need or want to do?

You could try to do both, as you said, especially if you hire someone to help you and if you can set some boundaries and schedule time off, so that you don't get overworked. ....But it sounds to me like this isn't something you truly want to do. You were so excited with Nature of Work to start doing YouTube full time

I know I, we, can't make the decision for you. I personally would think about practical aspects: moving is a big step. Will this new job be worth the move? Could San Francisco offer new opportunities for you? How well does the new job pay? Would it allow you to have more firm financial footing? Is there decent job security?

I can tell you what I would do. I would take the job. The way I think about it, you're not locked into this decision forever. If you don't like SF or the job itself, you can always quit and go back to YouTube. I'd want to try the job and see what happens because you don't really know until you try. It might be the best decision you've ever made. It might be the worst. But at least you'll know one way or the other. And you know that you have YouTube to fall back on if it turns out that it's not for you. It also gives you some freedom to know that you aren't dependent on the job to survive. So, if I were in your place, I'd take the job, cut back on YouTube a little, save as much money as I can, and listen to my gut. This is a chance to learn something about yourself and what you want out of life. Even a "bad" outcome is a win because then you'll know this wasn't for you. I wouldn't want to look back and think "I wonder what would have happened if I had taken that job?"

I would like to be able to say you should go for it, but it doesn't feel right. Yes, it's a big opportunity, but there are a lot of things to consider. Would they be paying you enough to live securely in the area? How would it affect your mental health to move back to Cali? Would there be any restrictions on your personal content in the name of preserving corporate image? I'm sure you've given it a lot of thought, it's ultimately your decision, and I'll continue to support you regardless. But you asked and it's a "don't take it" from me.

I've been trying to collect my thoughts, but that rarely works to anyone's advantage with me. First, I'm very glad you have this platform. Your voice is valued in this space. That said, you don't owe us anything. We are privileged to be a part of this community; and I'm sure most people would agree that what we want most of all is for you to be happy and healthy, and then the content will come as it comes. But you know what you're capable of, we don't. If you take the job, will you overcommit again? We can't answer that. Your voice would absolutely be a valuable addition to the gaming world (one I'm not a part of, so I've got no horse in that race) but only you can know what the balance between that, this... and you being able to have Jessie's Personal Life as well, that's just as important. As long as you take care of yourself, I don't really care if you have to cut back your upload schedule. But that's the key, you have to take care of yourself. Which, yeah, also includes getting paid, ya gotta eat. TL,DR shoot i don't know what you should do. Either way I'm rooting for you.

Haven't read through the other comments, so maybe I'm just repeating someone else's really good point sort of badly, but could view the corporate job as a cheat code to grow your platform very quickly for a year or two and then bail if you're miserable? Essentially, you have the content and they have the viewers, and it's not like you're giving up your firstborn to them signed in blood if it doesn't work out for one reason or another. I enjoy your perspective and even if you went down to one video a month or one video every few months, I would still maintain my Patreon level for your channel. Also, any kind of representation in the gaming space is critical right now, as the forces of the cis hetero white patriarchy are strong there and your ability to approach even disingenuous arguments with compassion and deconstruct them would be extremely valuable. Seattle will always be there if you really end up suffering in SF. I did see one comment about living in Marin, and I would be really careful with that one. There has been a building moratorium in Marin since at least the 70s so most of the housing stock is very old and scarcity drives up the price, so some parts of Marin are just as expensive as SF. Also, the people are what I call "fashionably liberal", so they'll vote Democrat, but when faced with an actual progressive thought they'll start swearing up and down about how it's not possible in the real world. Marin was also the epicenter of a measles outbreak in the mid '10s, which isn't really relevant, it's just a thought.
