Gross Texas Bill Brands Parents of Trans Kids as "Child Abusers"
Added 2021-04-14 12:01:04 +0000 UTCI'm really upset... and I needed to vent about Texas Senate Bill 1646 and how it would separate trans children from their parents if they attempted to get affirming care for their child.

I had to watch this twice to process and also research the subject, because I didn't know much about it. As always appreciate the education. I 100% recognize that it's not on you or any trans person to act in the role of tutor, but your willingness to do this, as well as your patience and kindness is noted and valued. So my question is, where do you want a donation to go to assist in this fight? My immediate thought was the ACLU, but before I do so, I wanted to give you the chance to weigh in if you so chose.

No one would even think of proposing a bill that any one who's doctor issues them Viagra should also be forced to register as a sex offender. I agree completely that this is just a bill meant to hurt for political show.

I work with a support group for transgender children (ages about five to 18) and their parents - thankfully, not in Texas. This and the sports bills might take a lot of processing for us for a while.

2021-04-14 13:13:51 +0000 UTCI so understand the anger! I can wholeheartedly recommend Rage Becomes Her by Soraya Chemaly. It's a brilliant examination of female anger and the ways we can feel it and use it in constructive ways. I'm in the UK and the legal and medical situation here is awful. I found this book really useful for coming up terms with the anger I feel about how my friends have and are being treated, and what I can usefully do with that anger.
