As a disabled person, I have great love for the disability justice mantra "nothing about us, without us" and I'm so glad that someone who's trans is contributing to this conversation (I'm sure other trans ppl have as well, but I haven't heard them as cis ppl seem to be taking up as much space as possible in a conversation that's not even about them, which is... par for the course)

2021-03-20 18:41:26 +0000 UTCThank you for this in-depth and nuanced look into this serious issue, and nice to see a change of style - you're really upping your game, we're proud of you (o: I'm not even American but I hate the divisive trumped-up culture wars that insincere and vicious politicians and commentators are using to thwart necessary progress in the US and, through its influence, in other countries. I can only hope that, as with the retrograde anti-homosexual laws in the '90s, these anti-trans laws will ultimately prove to be the last gasp of blind bigotry before the tide turns, the general public accepts trans-ness in its multiplicity and humanity, and trans equality is finally achieved. It will take longer than we hope, and many people will be unnecessarily discriminated against and hurt before this happens, but it will happen and that's the only optimistic outlook I can take from this current grotesque and unfair situation.
