Doctor Who Revolution of the Daleks Review | 2021 New Years Special!

Doctor Who is back, and so is Captain Jack Harkness and the Daleks with  Revolution of the Daleks. But did this New Year special deliver, or did  it start 2021 off on a sour note?

Doctor Who Revolution of the Daleks Review | 2021 New Years Special!

It's not as bad as 'Into the Dalek' but it was still pretty dumb, it also just repeats 'Evolution of the Daleks' by having a genetically different Dalek being killed for being different by other Daleks, despite the show being annoyingly inconsistent about whether Daleks mind difference or not. I would ideally like the show to stop using Daleks (and Cybermen for that matter) for a few years, you could strip them out of every episode since the RTD era (except for the anniversary show) and it would be better for their absence. I think the Doctor being still shook up by her new history is just Chibnall desperately trying to make us think it matters. I suspect Chibnall came up with the idea of the Doctor in prison and the title for this episode back at the end of last season without a clear idea of what either were going, hoping he'd work something out when the time came. And as this was a story with no revolution in it that didn't work out. I liked the stuff with the Doctor in prison and Mandip Gill kicked her scenes out of the park, especially her relief/rage when the Doctor returns, but otherwise, big meh.
