Exactly my feeling. I never understood Trek fans who were in it only for the scifi-ness. It's one of the most politically and social conscious franchises in all of pop culture.

2020-01-22 17:13:47 +0000 UTCHell yeah! I've seen these comments too and they blow my mind. Like what sci-fi are they watching and how are they watching it? The only idea I have is that they watched these shows as kids and just did not get the message at all. All they engaged with was "cool ship", "pew pew", " the day is saved". If that's true then maybe a few overwrought speeches clearly laying out the message might be of benefit.
