I have been excited to jump into these films since I began my journey in the MCU! Peter Parker's origin story felt so raw and tragic. It completely redefined what "your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" means to me in every way. It's not just a silly, fun tagline. It has real weight to it. A weight that Spider-Man carries, built on guilt, sacrifice, and this relentless need to do right even when it hurts. Especially when it hurts.
MJ was a standout, too. She isn't just the sappy love interest. She is someone trying to escape her own pains, her own loneliness, constantly surrounded and skipping from one guy to the next but they never see her. Not the way Peter does. And it made this love story feel so real and personal. It's messy, complicated, and kind of heartbreaking. But their relationship is not just about romance. It's about being understood. Peter loved MJ before she could figure out how to love herself.
I also couldn't help but notice the MCU-style echoes. The super-soldier serum, the military experiments, the corporate greed driving it all. Bottom line. I loved this movie way more than I expected to. For its emotional beats, for its timeless vibe. And now I really get why Spider-Man means so much to so many people.
