Battlestar Galactica | S2 E1 : Scattered | Full Reaction

What a start to the season! There was absolutely no time to breathe or ease back in. Just pure chaos, fear, and grief from the first frame until the last. Tigh stepping up brought such a weird tension. I immediately wanted that familiar comfort of Adama back on the screen. But he is clearly not Adama, and he knows that, but he's trying his best. I felt myself judging him one moment and feeling for him the next..

With everyone stranded on Kobol while Adama fights for his life on the ship, it gave this episode a split tension. Two storylines about survival. I could feel the desperation in both places at once and it made everything feel even more fragile.

There is already a sinking feeling after this episode. That things are never going to go back to the way they were in Season 1. This first episode set such a deeper, darker, and brutally raw tone that I wasn't quite expecting. But I'm here for it! See you all in episode 2!

Awwww yeah here we go. The first episode of second seasons are always exciting, even if they end up sucking (which this did not). A lot of TV shows tend to evolve incrementally between seasons, and I like looking for those little differences. Already you can tell that they got a budget increase; not only is the CGI better, but the actual film quality has gotten a bump too. The show looks really nice now. All of the directing and cinematography feels pretty similar, and they haven't skipped a beat with the writing and acting. Story wise, I'm just so happy that Adama has pulled through. I have no illusions that he'll survive the entire run of the series, but it would suck a lot to lose him this early. And it seems like Cally is going to be more involved in the plot now, which is cool. Looking like it's going to be a great season!

I love that in the intro you talked about Adama's unwavering belief. Because then we got all the flashbacks in this episode that showed how far back it goes. That he always believed in himself to get back in command of a ship, and his belief in Tigh. Really shed a lot of light on both of their characters, that definitely makes me sympathize a lot more for the way Tigh can be sometimes
