The Prestige | Movie Ticket Pick | Full Reaction

This movie felt like stepping into a perfectly constructed magic trick. I was completely hooked by the very first scene and line. "Are you watching closely???" 👀 This movie felt like an entire experience designed to keep me watching closely, guessing, second-guessing, and still somehow ending up completely surprised. The layers, the rivalry, the heartbreak... and the end? Just wow.

Thank you so much to Nick for suggesting this for his Movie Ticket pick! This was the kind of movie that reminds me why I love storytelling soooo much in the first place. And there goes Samwise Gamgee in my brain again 🤣🤍 This movie also happened to be an awesome deeper dive into the world of magic and mystery after The Illusionist.

Going back now to that scene, I see it soooo differently. And I think that's what makes this film actually incredible and genius. Because we, as the audience, try to look closely and pick up on those things but can't just yet. Maybe because we want to be tricked, maybe because we want to wait for the big reveal. But then once the reveal happens, watching the movie again makes it an entirely different experience! Just like sitting at a magic show and already knowing all the tricks. It changes everything.

Yes! Awesome and true comparison between the two films and their characters. Thank you for sharing that thought!

This film and Whiplash are about the same theme: obsession with being the best and the sacrifice required to achieve it. For Neiman and Fletcher, it was jazz music; for Borden and Angier, it was magic. Both are rivals who hate each other yet drive each other to greatness, regardless of the cost. Great reaction.

I see a lot of people pointing out how many hints are dropped through-out the movie as to what's really happening, but the scene where Borden meets Sarah for the first time gives away the plot of the entire movie. They kill the bird, and the little boy asks "But what about his *brother*". Still Nolan's best movie imo.
