My initial response to the word "bottom" was similar to Trevor's. I think it would make me giggle to hear a Proctologist say that. On the other hand I'd love if a doctor went the other direction and said something (in the most military-style) like "I'm going inside" to bring some levity to the situation.
2024-01-17 14:55:00 +0000 UTCMy pedantic solution is to not specify where he's going to stick it. "I'm going to insert my finger" is perfectly clear. You can just stop there. It drives me nuts when people argue over whether "Hey, you guys" is gender neutral, and if "Hey, y'all" is an appropriate alternative, because you could just say "Hey." Also, we have the word everyone, and then you get to say "Good news, everyone!"
