Welcome back to ArTorr Monthly! Here's the scoop on what I worked on last month and what you should look out for in the month(s) ahead!
March was a jam-packed month for me, split largely between my day job and preparing to move across states. Whatever time was leftover was devoted to putting the finishing touches on the Rogue One video. Now that the video is done, I've successfully moved, and I await a start date for my next job, we are finally shifting into the next two video projects to come, both of which were previously announced as part of the 2025 roadmap, but I can now confirm they will be worked on in tandem. Andor and Ghost of Tsushima.
As I touched on in March's ArTorr Monthly, the Andor video has been underway for a while. Ghost of Tsushima, not so much. But by working on both at the same time, I will, ironically, have an easier time preserving my sanity, so that it's not Andor everyday, all-day in my head for the next many months. The other function of doing them in tandem is that one video will always be at a different stage of production from the other one-- so I'll never be writing both at the same time, editing both at the same time, etc. Since we're now in this for the long haul-- and you probably won't see a new video until the summer-- I wanna break down for you how the sausage is made; or rather how these two sausages will be made.
Both videos will follow the same pipeline I've used for all my videos over the last few years. It looks like this:
Research & Outlining --> Writing the Script --> Voiceover --> Audio Pass --> Video Pass --> Final Pass --> Release
The Andor video will officially be graduating from research & outlining this month as I go full bore on writing the script. At the same time, the Ghost of Tsushima video, which I've not started working on yet, will enter research & outlining, which entails playing through the game and taking notes (among research on the side about samurai history & culture and the video game's development of course).
After the Andor script is finished, which I envision happening in May, it will move into voiceover, and then the audio pass shortly after. This is where video editing begins, as I start cutting and mixing the narration accordingly against music, interstitial clips, and some sound effects. When that happens, the Ghost of Tsushima project will continue down the pipeline into scriptwriting, which will probably take place over a longer period of time than writing the Andor script will, since I don't want to finish the script until the Andor video has reached the end of video editing. As the Andor video is officially released, I will be starting voiceover and video editing on the Ghost of Tsushima video. You get the idea.
Once again, as I touched on in last month's ArTorr Monthly, you will not see either of these videos until the summer at the soonest. These types of videos are behemoths to work on, and must unfortunately compete with the demands of my personal life and job outside of the channel. The Rogue One video has brought a lot of new faces and welcome support to the Patreon and channel, which is a promising sign that we are getting closer and closer to a future where I can go full-time, and give the channel much more attention than it presently gets. In the meantime, it's important to me to manage expectations and let you know where your support is going-- directly towards the completion of these two projects.
On the topic of pursuing full-time, I'll be making an effort this month to cross-off yet one more thing from the list of goals I described for ArTorr at the start of the year: returning to Twitch. Once upon a time, I used to stream on Twitch multiple times a week, multiple months a year. That was before the video-making here got as intense as it is today, but that's why, when I return, it will be with a much lighter schedule. I'm shooting for two nights a week; whichever will accommodate best with my work schedule and my greater focus on video production.
My aims for Twitch are to play through games that are either in my backlog, or games that the community wants me to experience for the first time. I could talk to you all directly, and open up another revenue stream that will feed back into the production of videos for ArTorr. I'm not 100% on if I will get the Twitch channel up and running again this month-- I'm not even certain I can realistically accommodate for it with my schedule-- but I at least want to try and see what comes of the concerted push to get something going again.
To anyone reading this with indifference, here only to support my main channel: I think that is entirely valid, and I have zero intentions of turning this into something that will overshadow ArTorr. I just want an outlet to share my gaming experiences with the community, instead of playing them alone in my living room as I usually end up doing.
Look out for a more concrete announcement about Twitch sometime soon!
That concludes ArTorr Monthly for April 2025. Much work lies ahead, but I'm more energized than I've been in a long time after how many of you decided to join the Patreon after the Rogue One video. We're going on a journey, and I can't wait to see where it takes us throughout the rest of the year. Stay safe, and may this month go easy on you. I'll see you again soon!
