Band of Brothers: Day of Days [Ep 02] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Y'all, the intensity of this episode had me so on edge and tensed up. I'm sure that will ramp up even more in episodes to come, so I'm prepared... kinda. πŸ˜…

Looking forward to your comments! Thanks for watching. [Direct link here.]

A couple of notes for this episode: These were the "airborne misdrops" that were referenced in Saving Private Ryan. The men really did group up in disparate units as they found each other. The resulting chaos actually made German commanders think that there were many more paratroopers on the ground than really were initially, and that is credited with helping slow the response to the landings on the beaches. So the Airborne really did make the best of what could have been a catastrophic situation. Survivors would talk about the fact that they had done so many night maneuvers in training that they could recognize specific people by their silhouette or by the way they walked. When you were nervous about Lipton being up in the tree, that was spot on. Survivors would later talk about how they took chances that first time in combat that they never would have taken once they had some experience. Finally, a word about Donnie Wahlberg in this episode. His acting is superb in that he captures, by facial expression alone, the trepidation along with determination of someone who is just going into combat for the first time during the scene where Winters is instructing him to bring the TNT as soon as they've captured the first gun. I've been watching your reactions on Youtube for a long time, but I'm a sucker for a reactor I like doing Band of Brothers. One final note: I get that the editing process is probably easier doing two episodes per, but I think the series is deep enough that each episode deserves a separate reaction. Without going into spoilers, you're going to find that the episodes going forward each has a specific tone/theme that I think will keep you engaged enough to justify an edit per. Thank you for watching and reacting to this well-done and very important series. The companion pieces (The Pacific and Masters of the Air) are worth a watch, but Band of Brothers is in a class of its own.

Chris Gunderson

I realized when looking up thumbnail photos (for the thumbnail that *will* go on this video eventually) that it was Andrew Scott. I haven't seen any of his movies, but I know who he is. Although looks like he's in 1917 and I'll be putting out that reaction soon as it won a recent poll.

The guy that played Hall went on to play a major role in Sherlock with Benedict Cucumberpatch (yeah I can’t spell his name lol) but he plays a COMPLETELY different kind of character. He also played in one of the Daniel Craig James Bond movies
