Severance: Chikhai Bardo [2x07] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Oh my gosh, this episode gave me what I feel like I've been wanting for so long... so it was good in that regard, but also so heartbreaking. 😭

So much to unpack here, so I blabbed for like 15 mins at the end. πŸ˜… Enjoy! Looking forward to your comments. [Direct link here.]

They gave us a lot how 'hows' with how Gemma lives down there, but a lot of the 'whys' were left open to interpretation. When she went to sit over by Mark at the library it did cross my mind that maybe she was sent there to get to know him...?

That's such a long time. 😭

I love that this episode gave us so much, yet didn't really EXPLAIN much. It still left the mystery intact, but gave us information that then gave us more questions. Yet, it FEELS like we're getting more of the picture in the puzzle. "Like a maze where you can take a thousand paths. Like all the questions that it does no good to ask. Some might accept it Some might complain It's a great puzzle, but you gotta like games." -Jules Shear

When I first watched it, I didn't notice the doctor/dentist walk-by in the clinic. It wasn't until I watched a reaction and someone pointed it out and that the clinic had Lumon logo on the paperwork (I was focused on Mark's and Gemma's faces and reactions), so now I agree with you that that was where Gemma got on their radar. What do they want, though? We still don't know, but at this point, it's easy to say that it will NOT be for the betterment of the world, even if THEY think so. They're a cult so their view of the world is skewed. To answer your question of how long Gemma was there, somewhere between 2 and 2 1/2 years. After she "died," Devon said that he tried to keep working and kept trying to teach for a few months, but it was a disaster...because he was coming to work drunk. They said a few months so I figured it was no more than 6 months after her death before he got a job at Lumon.

For me, this is perhaps the best episode of the season, and maybe of the series. We get to see Dichen Lachman shine, and get a full sampling of just what Mark has lost, and why it hurts so much--aside from the obvious of losing one's spouse. Fuckin-A.

It was tragically beautiful, that's for sure.

My favorite episode of the series! God what a beautifully directed episode. The transitions, the emotion, the hints... It has everything.
