Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Bouncing Back [3x11] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

I felt bad too. But also perhaps because the actor was in two movies I watched recently here, so that's the character that comes to mind first and I have to actively remind myself that he is a Von Strucker in this.

I do really enjoy the care put into the palate-cleansers.

Unfortunately I won't be turning subtitles off, so I'll just have to deal with that. Honestly, not really a big deal to me. I know viewers think it's a big deal, but I've never been bothered by it. Well, that I can remember. I'm sure there's been a pet peeve about it here and there in the past.

They do! And I love it. AND OMG DON'T SAY THAT. 🙈

Yes, definitely tell me the fan name as soon as the show reveals the real name! This show does have a few parallels to the real world, that's for sure. Probably a fitting time to be watching it right now with everything that's going on.

Thanks Onno!

LOL that line potentially making a jab at Marvel is hilarious. I'll def think of it that way. Not unlike the Deadpool lines calling out budget things. Oh I don't think I would try one either. I don't want to take the risk! Especially if I get one that I don't end up liking or benefiting from in any way.

Fun episode meeting new people with powers weither its good or bad, love seeing new abilities in live action. Seeing "YoYo" kinda toy with Mack till he figured her out was fun to see. I kinda felt bad seeing the Strucker kid going through that machine .

For me, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is at its best when it's telling the big serialized story--it just connects everything and everyone so well. But it does these palete cleansing episodes really well, too. We just had our big mid-season finale, so let's back into the swing of things with a fun character-driven episode. But don't worry...all of this matters. AoS is full of writers and showrunners who know how to make truly efficient storytelling. Nothing is wasted.

I just remembered something. If you have captions on they may tell you the monster's name before the show does. So you can decide on whether you are fine with that. I think it starts the same episode with his name but before the reveal which sucks.

The writers always do a great job with episodes that occurs after something major happens. They seem to have the knack of resolving the aftermath of the previous episode whilst setting up future events. In Bouncing Back (great title) we see a future event, 2 new inhumans (one good, one bad) and whatever Ward turned into after he died! Really like Elena's, or YoYo (Mack has good nicknaming skills), powers are really intriguing...yes she is super fast but only for the length of one heartbeat before she bounces back to where she started from. But the main question is, after a touching scene with Fitz & Jemma, what's going to go wrong this time!

The thing inside Ward of course has a name but the show will eventually tell you what that is. I much prefer the fan made nickname which is hilarious and fitting but I won't say it until later in the season as it is a spoiler. I love how shield gets to go international now to track these inhumans threats with the presidents blessing. The first half of the season was dealing with US inhumans. Lincoln, Joey, Lash. Now we are spreading out to inhumans in other countries as the Terrigen spreads more across countries. Elena and Medusa eyes from Columbia. Won't say much about the discussion about Politics and how these type of people like Malick could even get away with Murder but this show will sometimes remind you how they are not far off from the truth of the real world.

I don't have anything insightful to comment about this episode, but I am still having a great time rewatching along with your reactions! 😊

Another double-meaning title - we're bouncing back from the events of Maveth, and it's also a description of the powers of our new Inhuman Elena/'Yoyo'. Maybe I should make a list of the double-meaning titles - there's been quite a few now 🤔 Not sure if it was the show-runner’s intention, but a lot of the fans took the "OK, then, we'll keep doing what we're doing, you'll keep pretending we don't exist" line as a jab at Marvel Studios for ignoring AoS. Not really something they could sensibly confirm of course, but I think they knew what they were doing... Hunter is fun as usual - *of course* he'd try one of the contaminated fish oil pills. Honestly not sure if I would - getting powers is potentially pretty cool, the problem is the not knowing what powers they'd be. We've already seen quite a spectrum - is potentially getting powers like Daisy or Yoyo worth the risk of getting the powers that Dwight Frye or turning into something like Lash? It's a testament to Brett's acting just how different 'It' is from Ward already in the few scenes we've seen. The makeup work is also pretty cool - the handprint on his chest!
